Unforgettable Italy: Flowers and cats
Good afternoon, everyone!
So, I'll explain my choice.
I sowed these flowers in early spring. Now the flowers are in bloom. At first glance, the flowers don't look pretty. This amazing flower is a beautiful natural evening decoration. It blooms closer to night, and that's when its delicate fragrance intensifies. Do you know what kind of flower this is?
Matthiola longipetala flowers
They are Matthiola flowers. I decided to find out the etymology of the flower's name. It turns out that the flower is named after the Italian naturalist Pietro Andrea Mattioli
Pietro Andrea Gregorio Mattioli (1501 - c. 1577) was a doctor and naturalist born in Siena.
I sowed seeds of Mattiola bicolor. It is an annual plant that spreads out in dense branches. The flowers are small and have a mauve hue. The plant does not require special care.
Why a cat? Are you allergic to cats ?
Some Source is report that Mattioli allegedly described the first case of cat allergies.

In 1703, Charles Plumier named the plant genus "Mattiola" after Mattioli.
Italy turned out to be close by!
Ah, also pizza! But more about that later.
