How are you, friends?. Hope you keep well. Another week with another my travel experience. I'm very happy about being a winner last week. Last week I shared with you one of my waterfall hunting experiences. Today I'm going to share with you my late hike experience. That is Hantana hike. Ok let's move to the story,

Hanthana Mountain Range is located in the Kandy district, the central province of Sri Lanka. There are 7 peaks in the mountain range. The highest mountain is Ura Kanda.There is also a wonderful legend about Uragala. It is said that King Vijaya, who became the king of the island, was cursed by Kuvenia because he had been deceived. This is called 'Divi Dosha' and because of this King Vijaya fell ill and died. King Panduasudeva, who became the king later, was not spared from this curse and he also fell ill. As a remedy for this, the "Feast of Hatpas" was performed as a pacification, and Divi Dosha escaped in the guise of a pig. The place where the pig was killed by the Malayan kings who chased the swineherd has become 'Ura Ketu Gala', "Uragala". Another the opinion says that Sukhraya turned into a rock as soon as he was struck by the sword.

Hanthana is the best place to visit for beginners in trekking. There are several reasons why I say that. They are,

Being able to easily climb to the top of the mountain.
Having a clear track.
Being able to see a very beautiful view.

It is a popular spot for bird watching, hiking, and camping. The hilltops offer breathtaking views of Kandy city, the Knuckles range of Sabaragamuwa hills and the Aranayaka Dolosbage range. The mountain range, often hidden by fog, is a favorite spot for local university students, who address the peak as Adara Kanda (Mountain of Love). As Peradeniya University is located nearby, it is customary for university students to visit this mountain range throughout the year.

Hantana mountain climbing can be started from several sides.

From Kandy, take Baladaksha Mawatha and go to Gatambe Kandy Road. Turn right to Kappetipola Road. after that turn left again and you will reach your destination.
From Kandy on Hantana Road and start near Sadagiri Saya Temple.
