Ecology is great.
AppleSkin (vegetable leather obtained from apple processing waste) and Piñatex (an innovative fabric obtained from pineapple leaf fibers) sound seductive.
BUT! Not everything is so good.
Apples and pineapples are grown by guest workers and illegal immigrant slaves who are brutally exploited by food companies. They pay them the wages of beggars. And these people will forever live in poverty for the sake of "ecology".
For the cultivation of "pineapples and apples" fertilizers and pesticides are needed. Poisons kill people.
Is this the price of the environment?
And for the production of "ecological leather" - you need to spend a lot of electricity, which is additionally produced by coal stations.
All this is many times worse than a simple piece of cowhide, which you still eat in the form of a cutlet.

Grazie per aver lasciato il tuo commento e il tuo pensiero in merito. Personalmente, mi piace pensare che l'Italia (e l'Unione Europea), rispetti il lavoro onesto e retribuito e che si attenga scrupolosamente alle norme e alle leggi che regolano la materia . Tuttavia in molte parti del mondo, come hai giustamente sottolineato, non sempre tutto ciò che sembra ecologico è effettivamente sostenibile e rispettoso dei diritti umani. È importante quindi che le aziende si attengano alle leggi e alle normative, ma anche che si impegnino a migliorare continuamente per diventare sempre più sostenibili e responsabili: in questo dobbiamo fare tutti la nostra parte per proteggere l'ambiente e garantire la dignità umana, sia i consumatori che gli imprenditori.
