UNFORGETTABLE ITALY contest: Week 16||LA CERTOSA DI GAREGNANO
La Certosa è stata fondata nel 1349 da Giovanni Visconti signore e vescovo di Milano, sorgeva all'esterno del Parco Ducale del castello nei pressi del Borgo di Garegnano oggi periferia milanese.
Abbiamo qualche testimonianza della costruzione perché praticamente la cita in qualche suo scritto il Petrarca nel 1357, il complesso attuale risale al tardo 500 dall'altrio di ingresso si accede a un cortile con tre esedre dominato dalla facciata della chiesa che alla fine è stata terminata nel 1608.
Ho voluto portare una foto dell'interno proprio per far vedere la bellezza dei grandiosi cicli pittorici: nella navata le storie di San Bruno di Daniele Crespi ,nella psiche e nel presbiterio gli affreschi di Simone Peterzano.
Molte volte mi piace ricercare pittori che alla massa possono sembrare sconosciuti, Ma che alla fine anche loro hanno creato dei splendidi dipinti.
Come nel caso di Peterzano che forse pochi sanno che è stato maestro di Caravaggio
This week, thanks to this contest, I would like to tell you about the Certosa di garegnano, perhaps one of the not so famous Charterhouses but which I think is worth knowing.
The Charterhouse was founded in 1349 by Giovanni Visconti, lord and bishop of Milan, it stood outside the Ducal Park of the castle near the Borgo di Garegnano today a Milanese suburb.
We have some evidence of the construction because Petrarch practically mentions it in some of his writings in 1357, the current complex dates back to the late 500 from the entrance hall you enter a courtyard with three exedras dominated by the facade of the church which was eventually finished in 1608.
I wanted to bring a photo of the interior just to show the beauty of the grandiose pictorial cycles: in the nave the stories of San Bruno by Daniele Crespi, in the psyche and in the presbytery the frescoes by Simone Peterzano.
Many times I like to look for painters who may seem unknown to the mass, but who in the end they too have created beautiful paintings.As in the case of Peterzano, which perhaps few people know that he was Caravaggio's teacher.
