Climate change happened due to humans selfishness. We are doing everything to destroy the nature, and going to artificial world. Which is not a good sign of human nature.
You're right, humanity is selfish and does not want to give up all the comforts it has. And if nobody wants to do their part, we will not be able to save the planet.
