Rientrato alla base, ripreso il lavoro gia' il primo giorno, tornato alla vita di sempre con la prospettiva, ottima, di una estate incasinatissima.
In questo pezzo a livello generale parlo della situazione sull'isola, ci sara' poi tempo, nei mesi che verranno, per approfondire molti argomenti.
Come ho gia' scritto la partenza di maggio era per me una novita', non credo di essere mai partito cosi' vicino all'estate, solitamente vado col freddo italiano per infilarmi bermuda e maglietta appena sbarco nella maggiore delle Antille.
Intanto il tempo non e' stato un gran che, sole al mattino, nuvole con una cappa di afa nel primo pomeriggio e diluvio al tramonto, mi hanno detto che e' un maggio atipico, lo spero per loro perche' difficilmente tornero' a viaggiare in questo periodo dell'anno.

Poi c'e' stato, a Las Tunas, il problema degli Apaganes, per almeno 3-4 ore al giorno toglievano la corrente, gia' anni fa mi ero imbattuto nel problema ma oggi l'ho trovato particolarmente fastidioso, a quelle temperature.
Aggiungo che mentre qualche lustro fa i cubani accettavano con sobria
rassegnazione il tutto oggi si incazzano e non poco.
Le autorita' hanno parlato di problemi strutturali dovuti a guasti degli impianti elettrici, in realta' con ogni probabilita' si e' trattato di un modo per risparmiare la materia prima di cui l'isola e' estremamente carente.
Non a caso all'Avana invece il problema non si e' posto e mi pare
neanche a Santiago, citta' dove le eventuali proteste sarebbero potute essere tutt'altro che di facile gestione.

I prezzi sono saliti ancora, a Las Tunas una libbra di carne de puerco e' venduta a 230 pesos, all'Avana siamo vicini ai 300 pesos, mentre chi ha un maialino da vendere nel balcone sull'oriente di Cuba riesce a realizzare 130 pesos al pie' mentre nella capitale e a Matanzas anche 200.
Per una bottiglia di olio per friggere siamo nell'ordine di 600 pesos, tenete conto che una pensione media supera di poco i 1500 pesos mentre molti salari scavallano a malapena i 2000.
La birra nelle tiendas in MLC si trova a circa 130/150 pesos mentre nei ristoranti siamo piu' vicini ai 300 che ai 250.
Questi aumenti sono riscontrabili in tutti i prodotti, lo stato con la libreta elargisce un litro d'olio al mese ed una scatola di pollo anche se quest'ultima anche una volta ogni 2 mesi.

Prices have risen again, in Las Tunas a pound of carne de puerco is sold for 230 pesos, in Havana we are close to 300 pesos, while those who have a pig to sell on the balcony on the east of Cuba can make 130 pesos. at the foot while in the capital and in Matanzas also 200.
For a bottle of frying oil we are in the order of 600 pesos, keep in mind that an average pension is just over 1500 pesos while many wages barely exceed 2000 pesos.

Per noi turisti, al momento esiste
ancora il paracadute del cambio informale che e' oramai il solo
cambio che tutti utilizzano, quando sono arrivato ho cambiato a 123 pesos per un euro, poi c'e' stata l'apertura statunitense al ritorno delle rimesse ed il possibile (ma non ancora certo) posizionamento della divisa virtuale MLC ad un livello intermedio fra il suo valore informale e quello ufficiale, diciamo intorno ai 70
Il cambio informale e' scivolato a 100/105 per quanto riguarda l'euro, con la reale difficolta' a trovare chi te li cambi per la loro paura di un ulteriore scivolamento verso il basso.
Ovviamente se scendesse a 50/60 pesos per euro tutta la nostra
vacanza costerebbe semplicemente il doppio rispetto ad oggi, a quel punto ognuno dovra' farsi bene i propri conti.
Dal 1 giugno e' abolita la mascherina mentre io me la sono beccata ancora tutta, anche se rispetto a dicembre spesso era un orpello sotto il mento giusto per fare vedere che la si portava piuttosto che indossarla correttamente come accadeva nella mia passata vacanza.

Ho trovato un'isola un po' dimessa, preoccupata, a volte rassegnata,
sempre in attesa di quei
cambiamenti strutturali che potrebbero davvero modificare le cose.
Molti che hanno un bene; casa, auto, moto cercano di venderlo per ricavare quel denaro che permetterebbe di lasciare il paese anche se la via resta tortuosa col passaggio in Nicaragua e poi l'attraversamento di diverse frontiere verso gli Stati Uniti col rischio dei “cojotes” e tutto il resto.
Oramai il pacchetto completo per andarsene costa piu' di 15 mila
dollari, cifra non indifferente. Concludendo al di l'a del tempo,
degli apagones e delle problematiche che loro hanno in questo momento la mia vacanza e' stata in linea con le precedenti anche se Las Tunas e' oggi in situazioni diverse e non migliori rispetto all'Avana dove ho trascorso gli ultimi giorni.
Ma questa e' una delle tante storie che presto vi raccontero'.
