A distanze regolari faccio un pezzo sul discorso scooter a Cuba, tanto non se ne verra' mai a capo.
Come chi segue il blog sa avevo fatto un mezzo pensiero su Globestar, inviare uno scooter a gasolina, pero' viste le traversie di chi lo ha fatto ho pensato fosse meglio lasciare perdere.
Ci mette 6 mesi ad arrivare, sempre ci sono casini all'aduana di Holguin e ti arriva pure in pezzi da assemblare.
Troppe rotture di cabbasisi.

L'altro giorno mi scrive Ismail, il mio compare basco con cui condivido un po' di amicizia e molte giornate in piscina.
E' anche infilato in mezzo al discorso business dei trasporti a Cuba, anche se....occultamente.
Mi ha scritto, visto che ha le mani in pasta ovunque, che ha una moto da vendere, una Italika a gasolina 150 cc con 5000 km a 2600 euro che posso pure pagare come e quando voglio.
Come dicevo e' un amico ma anche un furbacchione, ora che scendo ci daro' un'occhiata senza impegno alcuno.

Fatti due conti passero' a Cuba circa 100 giorni ogni anno per i prossimi anni, se le cose non cambiano in peggio per noi stranieri, lo scooter mi serve per 90 giorni circa perche gli altri giorni sono nella capitale.
Posso acquistarne uno e tenerlo, quando non ci sono, in casa della famiglia, oppure rivenderlo ad ogni partenza primaverile, quando per 7 mesi saro' in Italia per le stagioni.
Posso prenderne uno di gasolina ma al limite anche uno elettrico, oggi ce ne sono di buoni e con l'avvento di quelli in gasolina i prezzi sono molto scesi.
A Tunas stanno vendendo scooter elettrici come quello nella foto a 1450 USD.

C'e' pero' il problema degli apagones...la ricarica potrebbe essere difficoltosa.
Posso continuare ad affittarlo, a me costa circa 10 euro al giorno, prendo un carcassone (se non ne sono arrivati di nuovi) ma mi tolgo el bicho de ariba per ogni problema meccanico che posso avere.
Da un lato mi sembra di continuare a buttare via i soldi affittandolo ma dall'altro e' comodo e, come dicevo, mi serve per 90 giorni, non di piu'.

Non e' che non ci dorma la notte, in qualche modo risolvero' la cosa, acquistarlo elettrico usato mi fido nulla, quindi opterei per il nuovo.
Quello di gasolina c'e' poi il problema della gasolina...che pero' in un modo o nell'altro sempre si risolve.
Quello elettrico apagones, quello a gasolina la gasolina...ahi...no es facil.
La cosa migliore da fare e' andare giu' col cash in mano e poi decidere una volta che sono sul posto, tanto lo devo comunque intestare al boss della famiglia, non essendo io residente, ma questo e' l'ultimo dei problemi.

LET'S TALK ABOUT SCOOTERS

I regularly write a piece about the scooter issue in Cuba, but we'll never get to the bottom of it.
As those who follow the blog know, I had half-considered sending a gasoline scooter to Globestar, but given the hardships of those who have done it, I thought it best to leave it alone.
It takes six months to arrive, there's always a mess at the Holguin Aduana, and it even arrives in pieces that need to be assembled.
Too many broken cabs.

The other day Ismail, my Basque buddy with whom I share a bit of friendship and many days at the pool, wrote to me.
He's also involved in the business of transport in Cuba, albeit... secretly.
He wrote to me, since he's always in the thick of things, that he has a motorcycle to sell, a 150cc gasoline Italika with 5,000 km on it for €2,600, which I can pay whenever and however I want.
As I was saying, he's a friend but also a smart guy. Now that I'm down, I'll take a look without any strings attached.

After doing the math, I'll spend about 100 days in Cuba every year for the next few years. If things don't change for the worse for us foreigners, I'll only need the scooter for about 90 days because the rest of the time I'm in the capital.
I can buy one and keep it at my family's house when I'm away, or sell it every spring, when I'll be in Italy for seven months during the summer.
I can get a gasoline one, but I could also get an electric one. There are some good ones these days, and with the advent of gasoline ones, prices have dropped significantly.
In Tunas, they're selling electric scooters like the one in the photo for $1,450.

There's the problem with the apagones, though...charging them might be difficult.
I can continue renting it; it costs me about 10 euros a day. I'll get a large car (if no new ones have arrived), but I'll take the bike out of my pocket for any mechanical problems I might have.
On the one hand, I feel like I'm still wasting money renting it, but on the other, it's convenient and, as I said, I only need it for 90 days, no more.

It's not that I can't sleep at night; I'll figure it out somehow. I don't trust a used electric car, so I'd opt for a new one.
Then there's the problem of the gasoline...but one way or another, it always gets resolved.
The electric one is apagones, the gasoline one is gasolina...ouch...no es facil.
The best thing to do is go down there with cash in hand and then decide once I'm there. I have to put it in the name of the family boss anyway, since I'm not a resident, but that's the least of my worries.
