For about a week now I've been hearing about these people arguing on this subject and I said that I should inform myself. On Sunday evening, information appeared about a competition between the most important football clubs in Europe, a competition that will start in the autumn of 2021 and will be administered privately, without the involvement of UEFA. The clubs are: Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man United, Tottenham, Real, Barca, Atletico, Juventus, Inter and AC Milan.

Some ideas on the subject, with bullets:

  • This thing has been discussed for many years, it was clear that it would happen at some point; I do not understand where the shock of public opinion comes from.
  • The announcement was made now that UEFA was preparing to launch the new UCL format, which involves even more teams, so poorer match quality;
  • By 2000, UCL had just taken it down. They increased the number of teams and the interest decreased to the point where we only watch a few group matches, because the rest are too boring. The players don't feel like them (we're talking about the top teams), their circumstantial opponents give their best, so sometimes there are surprises.
  • It's funny to see UEFA hit the ground running, even though they want the same thing: more money.
  • The exorbitant prices given to the players brought us here. Big clubs churn out hundreds of millions a year, and fans, who are now bustling like primadones, are demanding more and more expensive transfers.

  • I think there will be no sanctions, they simply play with all the cards on the table, the giants went all in. UEFA and FIFA threaten all sorts of exclusions, but their credibility is zero. You can't make a fuss when you hit the World Cup in Qatar and now you're closing your eyes to how workers on construction sites die. You cannot give sanctions when you have allowed any violation of financial fair play and encouraged the situation that has been reached. You can't say to Man City, "Well, let's forgive you, pay a fine, but promise not to!", Then expect the world to take you seriously.
  • Probably a negotiation will be reached, from what I understand the clubs would like more money and expect 3x from the Super League. 350 million euros would be taken by each founder if we were to follow these rumors. If UEFA raises tens of millions for the big teams, they will be satisfied for the moment.

  • I think it is aimed at a distribution like at boxing galas, where the star takes a huge scholarship, 70-80% of the money, and the low-ranked opponent receives the rest.
  • This mess was also started by UEFA, when they said "ok, in the big championships, the 4th place can also participate directly, while the small countries are fighting through qualifications".
  • This huge gap, denounced by Hagi several times, was built in time. When you know that you would insure 20-30-50 million euros a year, as if you make your plans differently, you borrow even easier, you have a predictability. When you miss a few times the funds start to appear.

That's what I understood, but it doesn't seem to be happening anyway. Too much interest in the middle, too much money ...
