The Diary Game 20/09/2021 - Matrix, Picard, Moonfall and Wheel of Time: I'm Not Very Impressed.

I'm not attracted to the movie. There are two reasons for this. The first would be that Resurrections wants to be more Matrix 1 and they have already tried to do that with Matrix 2 and Matrix 3 and it didn't work out very well. So I've seen more fights, more people avoiding bullets and the rest of the matrix and I don't want to.

Then I don't like it because it looks like a reboot. I don't want a reboot, I don't like fashion reboots. I want original scenarios, not the same story remade with small differences. The Matrix trilogy is over. They all died, it was sad, but the story was over and that was it. I don't want to start over, no matter what explanation they find for why Neo and Trinity are alive and drinking specialty coffee.

Star Trek: Picard season 2 appears in February 2022. I didn't like this trailer either.

The problem is on the subject of the season. Picard and his new crew are thrown by Q into a parallel universe where Earth is a totalitarian regime (think Nazis, of course) and they have to bring democracy or at least get out of there, it's not clear.

How many times have you seen this topic? I think there were a few episodes with the same theme in The Next Generation and Enterprise. I don't remember DS9 and Voyager anymore, but it looks like DS9 had some mirror universe there. Plus the movie about going back in time and the whales made with Spock and Kirk, who had hippies, not Nazis, but the idea remains.

In other words, another reboot. Instead of a scenario with great potential (old Picard, the future of the Federation, complications with the Romulans and the Borg, just like in the first season), they chose the simple and cheap version with dictators and police cars.

If we're still on trailers, let's talk about two more released in the last week. Moonfall looks stupid.

I expect it to be all special effects, zero brains. The issue is that the Moon is coming to Earth and catastrophic destruction is coming. From a few scenes in the trailer, I feel like saying that aliens are to blame, that something mysterious is visible there.

Forget the official description: A mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, former astronaut Jo Fowler is convinced she has the key to saving us all - but only one astronaut from her past and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman believes her. These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is.

I'm sure two astronauts will save the planet. So far it's a combination of a few SF cards. Stephenson's Seveneves on the Destruction of the Moon, David Weber's Mutineer's Moon, and Hollow Moon's theory in general.

The Wheel of Time is a large-scale work by Robert Jordan, one of the best fantasy series I've read. I highly recommend all volumes

Amazon makes this serie. It's with magic, political interests, strong artifacts, very pleasant characters (at least in the book), a lot of imagination and a very complex action, which revolves around the Dragon, the champion of good who must periodically defeat Evil and this before magic he takes his mind. I've been wanting to reread it for a long time, and maybe I'll do it soon.
