Elon Musk is known for his interest in cryptocurrencies, even being a supporter of Dogecoin, a currency that originated in an internet meme. It has helped increase the value of Dogecoing in recent years, and now Tesla is accepting payment in this virtual currency, but only for certain products.
Dogecoin owners can thus buy from Tesla various accessories or less common products using blockchain transactions.

The announcement was made by Elon Musk on his Twitter account, where he posts quite often about the crypto domain. Anyone who wants to buy the Cybertruck whistle, the Giga Texas belt, or even the children's Cyberquad can do so now in Dogecoin. Prices range from 300 coins for the Cyberwhistle to 12,020 coins for the miniature electric ATV.
Even more interesting is the fact that certain products that can be paid for in Dogecoing can no longer be bought with a regular bank card. Transactions in dollars or euros have disappeared from the pages of certain products on the Tesla website.
This is not the first time Tesla has allowed cryptocurrency payments on its website. Some time ago, Tesla sold electric cars for a little over a month, including payment accepted in Bitcoin. In fact, the company bought Bitcoin at the time, in order to show its support for this payment method.
Following the criticism, but also the high costs per transaction, Tesla decided to give up payment in Bitcoin. Criticisms around cryptocurrencies in recent years have focused on the fact that mining and maintaining blockchain networks consume a lot of electricity, being very harmful to the environment.
The reason Musk claims to have chosen Dogecoin as the currency to accept for transactions is that many SpaceX and Tesla employees already own such virtual currencies:
