Among the spectacular valleys with green pastures are three large cities, surrounded by the ridges of the Dolomites. Three picturesque cities, each with its characteristic beauty and their main tourist attractions: Trento, the painted city, Bressanone with the Roman cloister and Bolzano, the city of the ice man.
Trento is the gateway to the Dolomites and the most beautiful city in the Trentino-Alto-Adagio area. The city is known from a religious historical point of view by the fact that the Council of Trent took place here, between 1545 and 1563. This council brought together representatives of the Catholic Church who laid the new foundations of the Catholic religion, shaken from the foundations by the Protestant movement of Martin Luther. Architecture and art, museums and nature, castles and palace houses have made Trento an important tourist attraction of Italy. Piazza Duomo, located in the medieval center of the city is a great place with restaurants and bars from where you can look at the city surrounded by mountain peaks. In the center of the square is a beautiful fountain with the god Neptune.

Fountain of Neptune. Later in the center of the square was built a beautiful fountain dedicated to the sea god, Neptune and is the symbol of the city. The original statue is the work of Stefano Salterio da Laglio but due to its deterioration over time it was moved inside the Palace of Thun. The fountain in the square is a copy of the original one made of bronze and in the lower part it is adorned with snakes, shells or sea horses.

Palazzo Pretorio is another important building in the Duomo square. Its tower dominates the square and inside is the Tridentine Diocesan Museum.
From Piazza Duomo you can take an attractive route on Via Belzoni with small medieval streets and Renaissance palaces of the city. Buildings such as Tabarelli Palace, Thun Palace, Geremia Palace, Quetta Palace - Alberti or the magnificent Cazzuffi - Rella houses are examples of Venetian architecture whose facades are full of paintings and color. A magnificent journey through art!
