Note: These pictures and videos were taken last June 2019 before the events of COVID-19 outbreak.

Hey everyone! I'm back again for another one of my travel stories. Last time, I have posted my return to Singapore after 6 years. Two months later, I am back here again. But this time? It's my first ever solo overseas trip!

I mean yes! Without my then-colleagues Veronica and Sonny, I have stepped up in going to Singapore all by myself.

Getting ready for my solo overseas trip!

Arrived at Changi International Airport, booking a Grab Car

My flight was past 8:00 P.M. and I arrived around midnight. Of course, I'm finally having confidence of myself of being a solo traveler outside the Philippines. Before the flight, I called my parents letting them know that I'm about to fly to Singapore.

Back then, my parents are kinda scared when I travel alone because I almost got lost in my field trip during my high school days. Right now, they are super confident of me traveling overseas alone.

As I arrived at the airport, I bought a new sim card with mobile data for me to activate my GPS and internet anywhere I want in Singapore. I booked a Grab Car going to the same apartment that I've stayed a couple of months ago at Marine Parade and have some rest.

My breakfast for today!

Day One: Before going to the Marina Bay Sands to attend the ConnectechAsia event, I go to the nearest open food court near the apartment. I ate a piece of fried chicken with veggie sprouts with rice and Rose Bandung in can.

Since there is no MTR station in Marine Parade, I have to book a Grab Car going to Marina Bay Sands. It's pretty expensive for me to go there, especially that I'm all alone.

Dinner with Sonny and Joshua

To summarize the first day, I roamed around the ConnectechAsia conference rooms and met my friends Sonny and Joshua. I've already met them during my April Singapore visit. After the Day 1 event, we went to the Marina Bay Sands food court to eat dinner together. I forgot the exact meal that I've ordered, but the spice level is something that I didn't expect. I'm not really a fan of spicy meals, but I choose to try it anyway.

Night at Gardens By The Bay

After eating dinner with them, I was thinking of roaming to a place that I have never visited yet. I was thinking of going to the Gardens By The Bay, and I made it a reality. I

I’m lovin’ this man-made glowing tree!

I don’t mind hanging around late here!

Looks like this bull’s gonna charge on me!

Glowing emojis?

Although that I just roamed around here all by myself, it's safe here. No matter if it's past midnight, I'm in good hands because Singapore is one of the safest countries in the world. After that, I booked a taxi going back to the Marine Parade apartment in preparation for Day 2.

Day 2: The Connectechasia was held in two different locations; Marina Bay Sands and Suntec Convention Center. I've decided to go to the Suntec Convention Center to see what booths do they have in ConnectechAsia, and it's more on broadcasting stuff.

I also met Alex Mok, one of my international colleagues from Indonesia. We ride on a MTR going to WeWork 380 Jalan Besar Singapore to meet somebody. The thing is that from the MTR, we need to walk at least 1 kilometer to the meeting place. We met a beautiful lady from WeWork named Elsa, and been doing some business talks regarding her trading platform.

After that, we also met a businessman from India named Sam. I chilled for a bit before heading off to a nearby mall, which is City Square Mall.

Mixed food dinner at Crave

After eating my mixed food dinner at the Crave and roaming inside the City Square Mall, I went to the upper floor and having some milk tea. I was waiting for another Singaporean business colleague named Joshua (we both have the same birthday lol) to discuss some business stuff.

After talking for just several minutes, I head off to MTR station to chill a bit in the Suntec City before going back to the Marine Parade apartment for my Day 3 preparation.

Day 3: After the final day of ConnectechAsia in Marina Bay Sands, Sonny (my business friend) and I went to Ubi to meet Joshua and his fiancee. We meet each other at the station and went to an open food court somewhere in Ubi. Joshua treated us with spicy noodles and rose bandung drink. After chit-chatting with each other, Sonny went home and I stayed with Joshua and his fiancee to tour me around and visit their office.

Wanna ride this silver Ferrari?

A Harley-Davidson motorbike? You’ve got to be kidding me?

Met new friends in Ubi

As Joshua finished touring me around and visit their office, I am so happy to gain new friends. I'm just curious on who owns a silver Ferrari and a Harley-Davidson bike in the office's parking lot. As Joshua fetches me to the MTR station as I'm on my way back to the Marine Parade, some of Joshua's friends are also inside the MTR and I wasted no time taking a picture with them. For me, it's all about gaining new friends overseas, and that's what matters to me.

Day 4: This is actually my free time. Last April, the iconic water-spewing statue was under renovation in the Merlion Park. This time, I've finally encountered it.

If only I woke up early morning, there will be not much people who are taking selfies and capture unforgettable moments at the Merlion Park.

Chilling at Starbucks near the Merlion Park

I stayed up until midnight at the Starbucks Merlion Park to work on something in my Macbook Air. After that, I headed back to the Marine Parade apartment in preparation for a 2-day blockchain conference by the World Blockchain Foundation.

Instant business friends!

Days 4 and 5: To summarize, I have attended the World Blockchain Conference 2019 at the Marina Bay Sands Singapore. I have met new cryptocurrency and blockchain enthusiasts. One of them is a beautiful European lady named Kati, who is a professional investor relations manager. We became instant friends and met few times this year.

On my 5th day, I already checked out from the apartment and bring my luggage to the conference. After the conference, I just chilled myself on the third floor to charge all of my gadgets and work with my Macbook Air. After that, I ate dinner at the Marina Bay Sands food court.

Riding in an MTR going to Changi International Airport

Before midnight, I ride into an MTR heading to the Changi International Airport. Since my flight was in the early morning, I have to sleep there. Before that, I took some time going to the Jewel Changi to view the majestic fountain. I've slept for a few hours and set my alarm to 6:00 A.M. in one of their lounges.

Early morning @ Jewel Changi

As my phone alarmed, I ate some breakfast. Before going to the Terminal 4, I notice that the fountain isn't active during the early morning. How I wish that I could see the fountain at day time, but I have to catch up with my flight back to the Philippines.

At least I have shared to you about my 5-day experience in solo traveling and roaming around Singapore. I'm already loving this country, and I would love going back here again when the COVID-19 crisis is finally over. Thank you so much for your time in reading my travel blog post, and I hope you've enjoyed it.
