FROM BEER TO RHUM #MAURITIUS
Hello people,
Wherever you are in the world, reading this post, we hope that you guys are fine:-)
"Before you travel, make sure you check the alcohol laws of the area you’re visiting"; this is what every travel agent will tell its clients:-)
But for many of us, our tongue's curiosity for local drinks is above all alcohol laws lol. Every time we travel to Mauritius island, the beaches, the history and the landscape embellish the trip and it's FAMOUS beer is ALWAYS in our agenda.
THE PHOENIX BEER
Phoenix Beer comes from Mauritius island and it was launched in August 1963. The local people will tell you that it's definitely their favorite. The beer has received several international awards since the brewery knew how to remain faithful to its origins with its slogan "Nou Pays" (our country), which shows how this drink is in line with their lifestyle. When drinking the phoenix beer, you will find flavor of malt, cereal, corn and fruit.
When the liquid changes your travelling!
We don't know for you but we've got at least 4 habits while travelling;
1: A drink with the family before going to the airport.
2: Go straight to the Duty free shop at the airport and buy drinks.
3: Get on the plane and order drinks.
4: Arrive in Mauritius and find the different local drinks.
People in Mauritius know how to welcome tourists and if ever you have the chance to experience local life and go out with them, you will definitely know the BEST LOCAL SPOTS in the region and your itinerary will change, specially if you are in Mauritius during the festive season in december month for example.
FROM BEER TO RHUM !
Among all the places of interest we've added to our list, we got positive feedbacks about the Rhum factory situated in the southwest of the island and we decided to include it in our SPECIAL road trip!!!!! #valentine'day ;-)
A 14TH FEBRUARY AT CHAMAREL
Chamarel is surrounded by sugarcane and pineapple plantations; it is a MUST SEE !!!!!! The restaurants are well known for local menus, its amazing views and nice atmosphere! After visiting the village, our last stop was at the rhum factory with the guided tour & believe me, it changes our journey significantly.(see picture below)
Of course after all that drinking, we stopped by the shop to load up our new favorite rum to take home, along with other products such as jam. We were also happy that we had our taximan waiting and did not have to drive...It was a sober valentine's day LOL and we enjoyed it.
Discovering drinks in foreign countries comes with risks and alcohol can also prevent our minds from working the way we need it to when we need it to. An adventure can turn out to be a nightmare for example. But travelling is all about MOMENTS, whether it is sober travel ou sans alcohol travel, what’s important to note is that no matter where you go, you will learn and develop in completely different ways, so keep calm and keep on travelling!!!!!
Thanking you sooooo much for reading and supporting us!!!!
Best regards.
