They disguise themselves as colourful lights in the night, whizz across the sky as bullets, hide in impenetrable wafts of mist or appear only briefly as flashing dots on radar screens. In reality, however, as millions of UFO believers worldwide are convinced, they are always emissaries of extraterrestrial civilizations that are exploring the Earth.

They've always gotten away with it undetected. Except once, in Roswell, a city in New Mexico, near which a UFO crashed 73 years ago.

The alien beings had travelled light years in space, but after that they unfortunetaly crashing in a field where Mack Brazel and young Dee Proctor finally found several corpses. Since then, Roswell has been a pilgrimage site for sensation-seeking and UFO believers from all over the world.

It's main attraction is the UFO-Museum on Main Street, a flat functional building dedicated to the phenomenon with three letters: U.F.O. - unknown flying object. A real tourist sensation, equipped with alien rubber dolls, replica alien flying objects and numerous real documents in which eyewitnesses of UFO sightings swear that they have seen UFOs or even been abducted by them.

Roswell, a small, dusty town, is the Holy Grail of all UFO researchers and the center of a modern religion called UFOlogy. Many years the city administration had refused to officially use the unofficial title of "UFO World Capital". Until finally a mayor came into office, who was aware of the chance that the unspectacular 49.000 inhabitant town, whose most famous daughter is the actress Demi Moore, was giving away.

For a quarter of a century the desert city now has been completely geared towards aliens. In addition to the large UFO museum, there are at least four small ones, all restaurants in the town are thematically oriented towards aliens and all shops offer T-shirts, baseball caps, postcards, books, belts, cookies, lollipops, mouse pads, kitchen aprons and doormats with bizarre pictures of fantasy aliens.

A million-dollar business for all. Roswell is 200 miles away from El Paso, 200 miles from Albuquerque and also 200 miles from Amarillo. Always a good day trip, so tourists from all directions like to stop here. The interest wasn't big enough to build the big UFO amusement park that was planned years ago. But in times when more and more people believe that aliens have visited the earth and the governments worldwide know more about aliens than they admit, business is booming. It could be. They probably somewhere out there. What, if it is really had happened?

That's why the UFO Museum on Main Street offers a lot of spectacle to inspire the customers who are stopped only for entertainment. They`re getting what they`re looking for. From Nazi flying disks to the simulated alien autopsy, everything that could never be proven is on display. For it is certain that something fell from the sky in July 1947 in the Roswell area, because the military showed astonishing interest in Mark Brazel's discovery. But after the first official announcement, in which they talked about a "flying saucer", it was decided that it was only a "weather balloon".

Nobody ever gad believed this, here in Roswell, where the truth is out on every street.
