Hey, I'm back!

today this will be my first post on hive. I have been very inactive on both hive and steem lately, hope that will change now;) right now in a time when travel is almost or no longer possible, I remember all the experiences we made in Thailand. Today I'm going to tell you a little bit about our trip to Chiang Mai.

After spending about a week in Bangkok, we took a bus to Chiang Mai. We chose chiang mai for various reasons: Chiang Mai is also known as the Rose of the North. There are numerous historical temples here and there is a super beautiful old town. The temples particularly attracted us :)

If you ever want to make a detour from bangkok to chiang mai, I can highly recommend a bus ride. It took about 12 hours in total and cost around 15 euros. We booked the bus ride in a local office a few days before departure.

In chiang mai itself, like in bangkok, we explored the city by taxi, it worked great!

Here are a few of the most beautiful sights in Chiang Mai:

Wat Rajamontean

Wat Rajamontean can be seen in the picture above. It is one of the most beautiful temples in Chiang Mai.

It is located directly on a relatively busy street that leads around the entire old town of Chiang Mai. So you will hardly get around if you visit the old town, also look at the temple. It is also hard to miss: a huge Buddha statue is erected on the street. The style of the temple is not typically Thai, which is probably due to the fact that there lived many monks who actually came from Laos. What we particularly liked was that the temple looked very new and was decorated with a lot of gold.

just a beautiful bridge that I wanted to photograph;)

If you cross the side of the street with it, you get directly to the next sight, also another temple: Wat Lokmolee.

Visits to both temples are free of charge;)

Wat Lokmolee

In this picture you can see Wat Lokmolee. It is right across the street from Wat Rajamontean. You can easily reach it through the bridge. The temple was built in the 14th century and since then some monks have lived there. In contrast to Wat Rajamontean, there is more going on here: you can buy some souvenirs and there is a larger area with elephant statues and other sights. We actually saw monks there. The chedi of the temple is very simple in contrast to the many gold-plated of the other temples. It also looks a bit older. We didn't think that was bad, instead it was something different and new;) Because everything is a bit bigger and there are benches, you can spend more time here and enjoy the atmosphere. The temple complex is open every day from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

I hope you liked my article and you don't mind that the posts are a bit older;) Feel free to write me a comment, I'm also very happy about every upvote!
