Recently, we took a trip to Hokkaido. We stayed for 3 nights, 4 days. We flew in to New Chitose Airport at about 2pm on day one, so we had the rest of the afternoon and evening to do some sightseeing.

First, we got off the train at Chitose and went to Chitose Shrine to get a shrine stamp. The building and precincts were pretty large and had a distinctive Hokkaido style. The shrine was about a twenty minute walk from the station, and so we thought we would get some food on the way back, as we had been looking forward to some Hokkaido food, but, Chitose was deserted, not many cars, few people and few restaurants, none of which were open. Luckily, after some wandering, we found a "Victoria" family restaurant and got some food there.

Back on the train, we went to Sapporo Station. Our hotel was near the station, so we dropped our luggage off and wandered around the town for a while. We walked through Odori park, saw Sapporo Clock Tower, closed for coronavirus reasons and then went to Sapporo Tower.

Before going up to the top of the tower, we noticed the beer garden around the tower, deserted, as selling alcohol was not allowed at that time. That was a big shame, because Hokkaido is well known for its alcohol. Anyway, we enjoyed the view from the tower and did a purikura at the top.

Back down to street level again, we went in search of some Hokkaido ramen and found a ramen restaurant pretty quickly. That ramen has a slightly grilled taste to it, with pieces of beef included as well as the pork. I liked it.

After that, we bought some drinks from a convenience store and got drunk in the hotel room and went to bed.
