The sea awaits us / El mar nos espera

"When all this is over" is the phrase that many acquaintances share the most on social networks.

"When all this is over," they say, as a kind of mantra, we will be better, more supportive, we will truly embrace and kiss, we value many things in a very different way.

I am not the exception. Like most, I already have in mind a special place to go, and surely I agree with many people from Caracas that this place is the sea.

My husband's paternal family lives in La Guaira, on the Venezuelan central coast, and it is very curious that having the sea so close they do not frequent it with the eagerness that we would have if we lived there.

"It is that we don't like to bathe in the urinate of the people of Caracas," they say. And it makes me laugh because they are somewhat right. In "normal" times every weekend and holiday, the beaches of La Guaira are filled with families and groups of friends who enjoy the sun and a noisy beach, not because of the sound of the waves, but because of the loud music that comes of beach cars and kiosks.

I don't like beaches like that. Although I enjoy watching so many people enjoying themselves as we drive to a destination a little further away.

An hour from the busiest beaches, we stayed in a quiet town called Caruao. The beach is very calm, you can see artisanal fishing activities for the local families. And it has a river nearby, the Caruao river, which empties into the sea. It is common for people to make masks with the mud of this river.

We stayed in a little house devoid of some amenities that many would require but that we quickly forget it for the privilege of waking up looking at the sea. It's all over the front!

Today I share some photos of a family trip that I keep in my heart and that I want to repeat when all this is over.

"Cuando todo esto acabe" es la frase que más comparten muchos conocidos en redes sociales.

"Cuando todo esto acabe" dicen, como una especie de mantra, seremos más buenos, más solidarios, nos abrazaremos y besaremos de verdad, valoraremos muchas cosas de un modo muy distinto.

Yo no soy la excepción. Como la mayoría, ya tengo en mente un lugar especial a dónde ir, y seguramente coincido con muchos caraqueños en que ese lugar es el mar.

La familia paterna de mi esposo vive en La Guaira, en el litoral central venezolano, y es muy curioso que teniendo el mar tan cerca no lo frecuenten con el afán que nosotros tendríamos si viviéramos allá.

"Es que no nos gusta bañarnos en los miaos de los caraqueños", dicen. Y me da mucha risa porque tienen algo de razón. En tiempos "normales" cada fin de semana y feriado, las playas de La Guaira se llenan de familias y grupos de amigos que disfrutan del sol y de una playa ruidosa, no por el rumor de la olas, sino por la música estridente que viene de carros y kioscos playeros

A mi no me gustan las playas así. Aunque disfruto contemplar a tantas personas disfrutando mientras vamos en el carro a un destino un poquito más lejano.

A una hora de las playas más concurridas, nos quedamos en un tranquilo pueblo llamado Caruao. La playa es muy tranquila, pueden verse actividades de pesca artesanal para las familias de la localidad. Y tiene un río cerca, el río Caruao, que desemboca en el mar. Es común que las personas se hagan mascarillas con el barro de este río.

Nos quedamos en una casita desprovista de algunas comodidades que muchos exigirían pero que rápidamente desplazamos por el privilegio de despertar viendo al mar. ¡Está en todo el frente!
