Exploring Local Art at Riverside Gallery Opening

Hello creatives!

As someone passionate about community arts growth, I was thrilled to attend an exhibit opening yesterday evening highlighting promising local talent along Da Nang’s scenic riverfront. While still building a name on Vietnam’s art circuit compared to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, this inaugural event (*I think.. it may be the second time) at the Apex Center showed our city’s solid strides to provide inclusive platforms for creators.

Arriving early, the exhibition hall was quite and a great time to discover the art up close. I think there was about 10 contributors. Works encompassed diverse media from ink sketches to elaborate constructions. Seeing so many neighbors come together to mutually support and celebrate regional creativity was a delight to see.

Several interactive installations captured my interest through technology, like augmented reality pieces that came alive in 3D when viewed through a phone camera. Discovering hidden layers and immersion in these hybrid works made the modest gallery feel unlimited.

Wandering outside while crews set up a stage for a rockabilly performance later, my friend and I decided to take off and head to beach instead of waiting aorud, so we left but enjoyed the art experience 100%.

I welcome your local arts recommendations below! As Da Nang stretches its sea legs on the cultural front, I applaud every film screening, concert, marketplace and exhibit making space for artists. Slowly but surely, creative communities bloom when given light.
