Midnight Fare: The Phantom Passenger's Last Request

in AVLE 일상2 months ago

The night was already deep, and a taxi driver decided to pick up one more passenger before heading home. However, there were hardly any people on the road. Driving aimlessly, he noticed a white figure swaying in front of him, waving at him. The once tranquil night suddenly became unnatural with the presence of someone, and under such circumstances, one couldn't help but think of something people prefer not to think about—ghosts!!!
Yet, as if possessed, the driver decided to pick her up. The person floated into the car and said in a miserable and hoarse voice: "Please take me to the crematorium." The driver shuddered with a chill. Could she really be... He couldn't bear to think further, nor did he dare to. He regretted his decision, but now all he could do was to get her there as quickly as possible. Looking through the rearview mirror, the woman had a delicate face, eerily pale. Even the most talkative of drivers had no desire to chat at this moment. The silent journey was utterly spine-chilling.
The driver just couldn't go on. When they were very close to her destination, he found an excuse and stammered: "Miss, I'm really sorry, but it's difficult to turn around ahead. You can walk from here; it's very close." The woman nodded and asked, "How much do I owe you?"

The driver dared not ask for money, fearing it might cost him more than he could afford, hurriedly said: "Forget it, forget it. For a woman to be out here so late and come to this place, it's not easy. Just forget it!" "How can that be okay?" "Let it be!" the driver insisted. Unable to argue further, the woman said, "Well, thank you!" Then, she opened the car door...

The driver turned to start the car, but didn't hear the sound of the door closing, so he turned back...
How could the woman have disappeared so quickly? He checked the back seat, nothing! No sign of her in front of the car, to the left, to the right, or behind! Had she just vanished into thin air?

Driven by curiosity, he wanted to understand what had happened. He got out of the car and approached the door that hadn't been closed, "Could that woman have walked away so quickly, or was she really just..." He was about to lose it. Just as he was about to leave, a bloody hand tapped his shoulder. He turned around, and the woman, her face covered in blood, stood before him and spoke,
"Sir! Next time you park, please don't stop next to a ditch..."
