Hello, I send my warmest greetings to you great minds of this community.

I trust you are doing well with your endeavors.
This is my first publication in the community, and I have chosen to present on the concept of DApps, I hope you enjoy it.
Now, let's set the ball rolling.

Decentralized Applications

Decentralised Applications also known as DApps are digital applications that exist and operate solely on blockchain networks.
As the name suggests, they are decentralized, and therefore free from the influence of a single body, conversely to the centralized applications where there exist a single authority that takes total control of the activities of such apps.
DApps enable smooth, safe and secure transactions with the help of peer-to-peer network, whiles all users play an active role in the operations and management of the applications without restrictions from central a authority.
DApps have similar functions as regular apps, but with the absence of a single authority that manages the affairs of the applications.
Other relevant distinction between DApps and regular applications is that DApps possess the features of Peer-to-peer, Smart contracts, Decentralization, blockchains based.

Yes, all dApps only operate on blockchain networks, of which they use open-source system.
Dapps succeed with the help of smart contracts, by which all transactions are recorded automatically without human assistance or the involvement of third parties.
The peer-to-peer nature of DApps ensures elimination of third parties with regard to transaction confirmations.
These decentralized apps charge less fees on transactions, whiles the fees are paid in the native or utility tokens of blockchain that the DApp is operating on.

Example of dapps are; JustLend, Bankroll, TRONLENDING, Trontrade, Tronscan etc.

TronLink Pro, being an official decentralized wallet of Tron, hosts a lot of these DApps that can be found at the Discovery section of the App including the above mentioned.

You can visit dappradar here to have access and information to many DApps.

The following table comprises of the relevant difference between DApps and regular apps.

DAppsRegular Apps
They are blockchain based. They operate in the absence of blockchain.
They have high security level. They possess low security level.
No existence of central authority. There exist a central body that takes total control.
There is no ownership of DApps. They are owned by individuals.
They have low cost of development and maintenance. They cost high in terms development and maintenance.
They use cryptocurrencies.No usage cryptocurrencies.

Pros of Dapps

Below are some highlighted advantages of DApps.

  1. They resist Censorship; since there is no single outmost authority over dApps, It becomes very complicated for any organization or government to impose restrictions on the access and operations of DApps.

  2. DApps don't depend on a single source or point of failure like that of a hosting server, whereby this ensure no downtime or restrictions, since they only exist on P2P network of computers

  3. Autonomy; due to their decentralised nature, users operate freely at ease without any interruption of a third party, as compared to the other centralized apps where there are structured regulations that users must comply to.

  4. Data in DApps are immutable, and therefore they can't be manipulated by anyone.

  5. They possess high level of security; the blockchain technology is highly secured, therefore any project built on it automatically inherit similar qualities. This makes the level of security on the part of DApps high. There is no mandatory sharing of users personal information involved.

  6. Another unique feature of DApps is that, they have the ability to connect with each other, since they have similar functions or features.

Cons of Dapps

Anything with advantages have some down sides and DApps are of no exceptions. The following are some related challenges of DApps.

  1. The decentralised and smart contract features of DApps make them more prone to hack attacks, especially with the weaker DApps.

  2. They lack a central body to help users recover wrong transactions, therefore a wrong transaction is irreversible which in turn leads to huge loses, stress and frustrations on the part of the users.

  3. Most DApps lack user-friendly interface, which sometimes frustrates and diminish the interest of new users.

  4. To verify users of DApps tends to be difficult, as they lack a central a authority that takes control in managing affairs.

  5. It's never easy to fix a technical issue in a DApp, since all users must update themselves to fit into the new development.

  6. When it comes to accessibility, DApps lag behind. They are not easily accessible users, simply because of the complex nature of the blockchain Ecosystem.

  7. There are high-risk DApps such as Hex and Etherchain, which claim to be decentralized, but practically they are not, therefore it always good to make a thorough research on whichever dApp we want to operate on.

Conclusion

This is my presentation on DApps and I hope you have learned something from it.
Decentralized apps, decentralized exchanges and non-custodial wallets are key things that facilitate the blockchain technology, therefore they are worth learning and experiencing.

Here is reference to this publication. Actually it is my original article that I have re-writed, because I found interest in it, and couldn't look nowhere.

Thank you and have a great time.

Thank you.
I will keep going hard. 💪🏽

Very extensive review. You have here, nice work

Dapp for me are still the future of internet, this apps are decentralized without any single entities, allowing users to interact and explore internet without any boarders.

You've have explained the pros and cons in a simple way.

Thank you for sharing

Thanks for the visit and feedback.
I appreciate.
