Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT) is a BFT algorithm. PBFT is designed to provide a high level of fault tolerance in systems with a known and limited number of participants. By a voting and signature-based process PBFT ensures that transactions are only considered valid when a threshold of nodes has reached consensus. Tendermint consensus algorithm is another one. Tendermint is designed to provide Byzantine Fault Tolerance in permissioned blockchain networks. It utilizes a consensus protocol based on a deterministic, round-based process. Basically a designated proposer suggests a block, and validators vote on its validity.

BFT mechanisms has a lot of advantages for blockchain networks. BFT enhances the security and integrity of the network. It will tolerate the presence of faulty or malicious nodes. Thus the system will run smoothly. This makes BFT-based blockchains more resilient to attacks. And it ensures that the consensus process is not easily compromised.
