DAPP (Part 01) : Differences Between App and DApp

in Tron Fan Club2 years ago

DApp or decentralized application is one of the topics in this TRONFANCLUB community. It is one of the important topics based on blockchain and very trending discussion in the blockchain world. We are using a lot of Apps (Applications) and DApps in our day-to-day life but the concept of the DApp is different from traditional applications (Apps).

There are many of us who don’t know the differences between this two. It is important that we have an idea advantages and disadvantage of App and DApp. Today I am going to share with you how the DApp is different from traditional applications or centralized applications (App).

APPDAPP
Traditional applications are primarily owned by an owner or a company. If anyone wants to use this application, they can use the app by downloading it to their device such as mobile phone, computer or tab and receiving & uploading data from the server.DApp is not exclusively owned but is operated by a blockchain network. You do not have to download the application here but you have to download the smart contract or (what we call source code). In some cases, you may have to pay a fee during getting source code. And that fee has to be paid in a certain currency as determined by the respective blockchain. This source code will create a new copy and be included in the blockchain as a block.
All control of the general application is basically in the hands of a central part. So, it is much easier for them to control. On the other hand, since the application is used from a server. Users will not be able to use the app if there is any problem in that server. In case of any data hacking, users will not be able to use the data & can lose their data as well.Although there will be no central control in decentralized apps, there is no possibility of server crash due to decentralization. Since the data is scattered in different parts, users can use the application with data from any part at any time. So, there is no tendency to lose data due to server down and hacking. Again, if a big problem arises, it is very time consuming and difficult to solve it (because it is not centralized).
It is very easy to update the general applications because all the users can get the immediate benefits of uploading to the server by the central part or owner of app.But updating or changing the server in decentralized applications is a little difficult.
At present, the number of users of general applications is usually much higher.General applications are much more popular in the current context because the concept of decentralized applications came much later and is growing day by day.
The cost is much lower in general applications, which means it can be used for free and Its faster.Generally, DApps take money to operate and Its a bit slow.
Example: Messenger, WhatsAppExample: Metamask, Brave.
