Presently the trend of suicide is increasing, explain why people are choosing to commit suicide.

There are alot of reasons why people are choosing to commit suicide this days,,, but the most common reason why people usually choose to commit suicide is Depression.

The country and the world at large is so difficult, we are in a challenging moment, a lot of people are leaving a life of lack... i.e not having the resources to meet their basic needs and the necessities of life. Thereby, leaving them so depressed and frustrated.
Alot of people have loss hope, and are so sad that they can no longer think of anything aside suicide.

Other reasons includes;
Social isolation, loss, shame, financial struggles, dysfunctional relationships, abuse etc.

Research has it that the rate of suicide among male is higher than that of the female.

Below are the reasons;

Societal expectations: The society usually expects more from the male than the female. The male have a lot of responsibilities to handle both in the family and in the society as well. So the tend to become more depressed and frustrated when things are not actually working well for them. Leaving them with no option than to commit suicide,, in order to save them from embarrassment and the frustration of life.

Low reporting rate: The male are often seen and regarded as the breadwinners and the backbone of every home and society. Having being regarded as the breadwinners,, the male usually find it very difficult to speak out when they are depressed, or are passing through some challenges that requires external help. The often prefer to keep their mental health struggles to themselves,, which usually results to suicide.

Depression is responsible for suicide, what is your advice for people suffering from depression??

My advice for people who are suffering from depression is that,, they should always speak out and seek for professional help,, like going to either a therapist or psychologist, to seek for medical help and attention.

Also, they should avoid isolation, they should reach out to either their family members or friends whom they trust so much, for guidance and consolation.

And lastly,, self care strategies like frequent exercise, engaging in outdoor activities, eating and maintaining balanced diet, and practicing relaxation techniques such as deep breathing etc can be of great help to their mental health and well-being.

Explain what steps you would take to reduce the tendency of young generation to commit suicide.

The following are the steps I will take to ensure the reduction of suicide tendency in our young generation.

1. I will educate and create awareness about what depression is, the effects and how to handle it probably. And I will do this either by organizing seminars, hiring mental health professional to speak to the student, printing and distribution of informative materials such as pamphlets etc.

2. Educate the parents on mental health issues and the signs, and I will also encourage open communication and active listening between the parents and their children.

3. Make access to mental health support so easy and affordable,, and I will also ensure confidentiality and trust. So that the victims will be sure that their secrets are save with us.
