How does language affect the human mind ?!

in You.Deserve3 years ago
Language is much deeper than being a means of communication between us human beings. Language represents identity, culture and history, and it represents our view of ourselves, of those around us and of society as a whole, but it contributes to defining our view of other societies. Language greatly influences our way of thinking and our understanding of the things around us, but what if I told you That language completely reshapes our brain !!
According to the theory of linguistic relativity developed by the scientist Benjamin Wolf, we see the world through language, meaning that Arab, Chinese and English people may see the same phenomenon differently!

For example, the English language in pronouns does not distinguish between male and female, unlike the Arabic language, which made Western society, according to some researchers, more accepting of gender equality than Eastern society.

And the language may affect even our monitoring of some scientific experiments, as there was an experiment between two teams of researchers to monitor one of the pathogenic genes in the legs of animals, the first team was German and the other American, and because the German language does not differentiate between the front and back feet, unlike the English language, he did not imagine German researchers are looking for two separate genes, while American researchers are searching hypothetically for the two genes. Indeed, two of these genes were discovered separately, while German researchers could not imagine that they are looking for two separate genes, because the front and back feet for the animal are considered. Linguistically, one part of the body.

Language also contributes to making us more or less able to express our different thoughts, feelings and emotions, and this mainly depends on the strength of the language in terms of the number of words that can be used for expression, as the number of words in the Arabic language is almost three times the English language, which greatly contributed to leaving A giant Arab literary legacy compared to English literature.

According to linguists, learning foreign languages at an early age is significantly harmful compared to the benefit for the child, as it psychologically greatly affects his identity and his vision of the world, and on the other hand it may hinder his ability to learn and creativity, as some studies have indicated that we may lose More than 50% of our creativity is when we learn in a language other than our mother tongue. Therefore, we find that there are a very limited number of Nobel Prize winners who have studied without their mother tongue.

We may be surprised by this amount of the effect of language on our way of thinking and our perception of reality, which makes our study of our mother tongue and our ability to do so on our top priorities in life.

In your opinion, do you think that there are other aspects through which language can affect our minds ??
