The 'Ekpe' (meaning- Lion) masquerade is a traditional cult practiced mostly by people in the southern part of Nigeria- the Efiks, Oro and Ibibios, including some tribes in Western Cameroon.
The masquerade is often dressed in a custume made out of the rafia.
Their colorful attires are works of indeginous art.
