Did you know there is enough petrol in a full tank of a Jumbo Jet to drive the average car 4 times around the world

  • Jumbo Jet Fuel Capacity: While jumbo jets, like the Boeing 747, have a massive fuel capacity (ranging from 48,400 to 63,000 gallons), it's important to consider the type of fuel. Jet fuel and car gasoline are different.
  • Fuel Efficiency: Cars and airplanes have vastly different fuel efficiency. Cars average around 25-35 miles per gallon, while jumbo jets burn fuel at a much higher rate, typically around 4,600 gallons per hour during cruise.
  • Distance Around the World: The Earth's circumference is roughly 24,901 miles.

Taking these factors into account, driving a car around the world four times (approximately 99,604 miles) with a single jumbo jet's fuel tank wouldn't be feasible.

Here's a more realistic scenario:

If a car gets 30 miles per gallon and a jumbo jet holds 50,000 gallons of fuel, the car could potentially travel:

  • Car Distance = Fuel Capacity x Car Efficiency
  • Car Distance = 50,000 gallons * 30 miles/gallon
  • Car Distance = 1,500,000 miles

This is still a significant distance, but much less than four times around the world.

So, while a jumbo jet carries a tremendous amount of fuel, it wouldn't be enough to power a car around the world four times due to fuel type, efficiency, and total distance.
