My favorite hobby is trekking.
At Annapurna Base Camp, Nepal
Few people thinks why should we waste our vacation time and hard earned money for long long walk instead of relaxing during vacation.
At Prashar Lake, Himachal Pradesh, India
For me, trekking has become an inseparable part of life. Now, I am trying to note why I like trekking.
At Gorkhey, West Bengal, India.
(i) Fitness : Trekking or walking is an perfect exercise. Actually, I am a foodie. I need to maintain my weight within the limit that I can trek, and I accomplish that my trekking itself.
At Kedarkantha, Uttarakhand, India
(ii) Closeness to nature : Trekking helps me to stay close to nature. Much more closure than enjoying a mountain through car window.
At Tumling, Nepal
(iii) Visit Places unaccessible by car : Trekking begins where the motorable road ends. I can visit places by trek that are not accessible by car.
At Gnathang Valley, Sikkim, India
(iv) Closeness with local people : Trekking gives me an opportunity to come close to local people as we used to stay in homestays maintained by local people during trekking.
At Dooars, West Bengal, India
(v) Learn and respect local culture : Trekking provides chance to be aware about local customs / songs / dance.
At Dzongu, Sikkim, India
(vi) Environment friendly : Trekking reduce the carbon footprint that could have generated if we use car.
At Panchalingeshwar, Orissa, India
(vii) Taste local food : In trek, the local cook used to prepare their local cuisine - sometimes these can beat multi cuisine from big restaurants.
At Chopta Valley, Uttarakhand, India
(viii) Learn to survive with minimum : Trek made us understand how we can survive well without the luxury.
At Lava, West Bengal, India
(ix) Support local economy : Local people join the trekkers as guide, cook, helper, porter. This helps the local economy.
At Dalma, Jharkhand, India
(x) Good Bonding : It is often told that trek-mates are friends for life. Actually, understanding each other and supporting during trek create such bonding between trek mates.

(xi) Leadership : Leading a trek makes you learn quick decision making, people management, organization skill, problem solving etc.

(xii) Pocket friendly : As no car involved, the rising petrol-diesel price has no impact on your budget !!
