Listed below are some specific example of the type of cryber crime.
- Theft of financial or payment data
- Email and internet fraud.
- Identity fraud(where personal information are being stolen and used)
- Cyberextortion(demanding money to prevent a threatened attack)
- Cyberspionage (where hackers access government or company data).
- Cryptojacking (where hackers mine cryptocurrency using resource they do not own)
Cryber crime can be classified into two main categories
- Criminal activity that uses computer to commit crimes.
- Criminal activity that target others
Cryber activities that uses computer to commit crimes may involve using computers or network to spread illegal information, illegal images.
Cryber criminal that target computer usually use viruses and other type of malware. The infect computers with viruses and malware to damage devices or use the virus to act as a spy which sends dicrest information from the infected computer to their own computer.
Cryber crime that stops the user from using this network or device are called Denial -of-services (DOS) attack.
