CONTEST | How IT will affect the future | Share your ideas| #Club5050 | Entry by @frankie14

Warm greetings.

When asked this question, most people would predict the invention of more Artificial Intelligence products such as self-driving cars and voice recognition modules that we have in existence today. But personally, I’m more concerned with the “information” aspect of IT (Information Technology).

1. “Telepathic” information transmission

Already we have social media and electronic messaging which transfers information in seconds but with all the advancement in technology, I predict that that speed of info processing and transmission will increase even further, and maybe even exceed the speed of a nerve impulse processing human thought.

Imagine if you could read people’s minds. Like you could actually see what they were thinking in real time. Well that’s how I see information transmission in the future but with a little more control. I see humans able to transmit (with certain advanced technologies, of course) thoughts and ideas between each other almost telepathically.

This could have a number of benefits:

  1. The obvious one, the incredible speed of passing information from one person to another.
  2. But for me the most important benefit would be privacy.
In today’s world, yes information is passed around very quickly, but do you have any real privacy? Web and app developers would tell you different. Simply put, all information shared on an app like Twitter for example, is stored on servers and can be retrieved at any time, meaning “private messages” aren’t so private after all. Yes there is the case of encryption but still electronic information is stored in a central database that can be accessed if and when need be. With telepathic communication however, there’s no longer any need for a server. Messages are 100% secure during and after transmission because it would be direct from one person’s mind to another’s.
  3. Lastly, this means of communication won’t be able to be “hacked” so easily as today’s system of information transmission.

2. Simulation of the human mind

Secondly, I predict that at about 100 years into the future, the human mind would have been understood far better than it is today and its boundless abilities would be harnessed a lot better. Scientists can then use these knowledge of abilities to somewhat replicate a model of the human mind , capable of performing almost the exact same tasks but without autonomous control. Meaning that the developer of this particular creation can manipulate and control the activities of this “artificial mind”

The biggest benefit of this would obviously be groundbreaking advancements in artificial intelligence and automation of human processes to serve the human race better

The only downside I foresee however, is the possibility of creating a truly artificially intelligent force which could gain consciousness of its own. If this happens; then humans lose control and the entire human race could be in danger of extinction if the force decides that “the era of man is past”.

This is briefly how I see IT shaping the future. Let me know what you think!

Special thanks to @siz-official for this opportunity to share my thoughts.

I invite @zekea, @awesononso and @luckydrums to join this contest.
