A balanced diet is important for the good health of the family. From birth to old age, the nutritional needs change in different periods of age. There are people of all ages in a family. Parents, their children and their parents, i.e. young children. And older people of all ages have their own nutritional needs. And a nutritionist will take care of the needs of the family and create a menu that will satisfy the nutritional needs of all the families as well as their sense of taste. (01) Nutritional needs of Infancy:

This is the best period of development in which the baby grows almost three times in a year. It needs more energy and nutrients than that. In the beginning of infancy, all the needs of the baby are met by milk but as he grows Yes, it increases his nutritional needs. When the baby is two months old, he should be given a few drops of masmi or sweet malt juice to meet his vitamin C needs. In the third month, egg yolk and after four months, cereal porridge, sago, etc. should be started gradually. At the age of one month, grated apples, pears, bananas, etc. should also be fed. After eight months, when the teeth of children usually start to erupt, then the fine fibers of cooked meat should be added to their diet.

Here are some things to keep in mind when introducing new foods to your baby:

  • It should be as thin as milk.
  • The child is willing to accept food.
  • Introduce one diet at a time.
  • Introduce very small amounts of food and gradually increase the amount.
  • Steel and vitamin C are most needed at this age, so it is important to have adequate amounts of these nutrients in your diet.

(02) Nutritional needs of school going children:

Children between the ages of three and six have the same basic diet as adults. Raw vegetables and fruits should be included in the diet especially. It has been observed that children of this age consume more sweets such as toffee and chocolate ice cream. They should reduce their intake and good foods such as milk and fruits Salads etc. should be used more. Children between the ages of seven and twelve should get in the habit of eating everything, especially protein and vitamins should be given in the diet as these nutrients are essential to meet their developmental requirements.

Boys and girls between the ages of 13 and 16 are growing faster so they need more calcium, phosphorus, vitamin D and iron. Protein foods must be included in their diet.

(03) Nutritional needs of adolescence:

At this age, the pace of development is fast in the beginning while it slows down at the end of this period. Physical changes occur in children. Their height and weight increase. Boys should be given more caloric foods as boys of this age play sports. And participate in sports.

While the amount of iron and calcium in the diet should be taken care of, high fat and high sugar foods should be avoided at this age as it is more likely to lead to weight gain at this age as well as hormones. Changes can also cause acne on the face.

(04) Nutritional requirements of elderly people:

People at this age have a very weak sense of taste, so they feel less salt, pepper and sweet in their food. At this age, they should be given healthy, low-fat, healthy food.

Don't eat too many poultry and sweet foods as the digestive system slows down at this age, so eating such foods increases the chances of developing high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease.

(05) The nutritional needs of pregnant women:

A pregnant woman's diet contains 300 extra calories and a lactating woman's diet contains 600 extra calories. She should include protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron and vitamin B complex in her diet.

Fruits must add in the daily diet. Balanced diet should be included in the daily diet. Eating a balanced diet will have a positive effect on the health of not only the mother but also the baby.

Food fads and fallacies

The customs found in any society which are prevalent without any solid reason for eating or not eating any food are called false ideas. There is no scientific reason for these ideas. It is wrong of any one person or group. Are introduced as a result of experiments.
Below are some of the misconceptions we have, for example:

  • Do not drink milk after fish.
  • Do not drink water after cucumber and melon.
  • Milk is the cause of obesity.
  • Eating meat gives strength.
  • Baked double bread does not thicken.
  • Goat meat is more powerful.
  • Banana makes fiber.

All of these misconceptions and societal norms and ideas generally have a detrimental effect on people's health, such as the idea of ​​gaining weight, so that people stop drinking milk and thus lose the largest dietary source of calcium and phosphorus.

In the same way, people abandon many things and lose their usefulness due to the idea of ​​hot or cold things, even though science does not accept the theory of hot and cold things and negates such things and ideas. We should not follow these false ideas, otherwise we may suffer from malnutrition.
