Today I will explain the computer virus.
In which I explain how to damage computer virus.
And explain the types of virus.
Computer Virus:
Computer virus is a program that may disturb the normal Working of computer without the knowledge or permission of the user virus attach itself to the files in flash drives hard disk and email attachments a file containing a virus is called infected file.
Damage to the computer:
Computer virus cannot damage computer hardware. It may cause many damages to a computer system. A virus can:
- A computer virus can damage data or software on the computer.
- It can delete some or all files on the computer system.
- It can destroy all data by formatting hard drive.
- It may detect some special information like passwords.
- It may slow down the speed of the computer system.
- It may display a political or false message every few time a virus may also make some resources unavailable to the users.
Cause of computer:
A virus is spread on different computers due to the following reasons.
Email:
When open and download an email then virus spread.
Network:
When user downloads a file then virus copied to the computer.
Removable storage media:
Flash drives and CDs are important means of exchanging data. A virus can also be copied from one computer to other, when the user copies infected files using these devices.
Pirated software:
Like MS Word and MS Excel. Some companies intentionally add virus in these software.
Activation of virus:
When the computer virus starts working it is called the activation of virus. For example a popular virus Friday the 13th virus is activated only if the date is 13 and day is Friday.
Types of virus:
Boot sector virus:
The boot sector virus modifies the program in the boot sector. It is loaded into memory whenever computer is turned on. The virus is attached with the executable files like .exe, .com and .dll files. When the user use these files the virus is attached with these fires is activated.
Chernobal virus:
The famous Chernobal virus deletes all Microsoft Office files. It also deletes the partition information from the disk that causes a major loss of data.
Logic bomb:
Logic bomb is a virus activates when certain conditions are met such as opening a file or when certain date and time occurs.
Trojan Horse:
Trojan Horse hides itself as useful program. It contains hidden instructions to erase data or cause other damage. It executes illegal destructive instructions in the middle of a program such as computer game.
