My best mate Zeus
I would like to introduce to you my best mate Zeus!
Zeus is half Australian cattle dog and half staffy.
I got Zeus when he was nearly 3 years old, as a rescue dog.
Here is his first picture when he first arrived to my house. Doesn't he look happy ❤️
Zeus is now nearly 14 years old. And he is still doing great.
I work from home so he is always by my side he is like my shadow.
When Zeus was younger he was very energetic and a bit of a hand full some times, but as he has gotten older he has chilled out alot!
His favourite thing in the world is car rides!!
He absolutely loves it.
And also sleeping and eating haha.
When we got out at nights we always come home to Zeus sleeping on the couch on the back deck which he is not allowed on haha.
And some times he trashes the couch and pulls all the coushins off and sleeps on the floor 😅
Zeus's dislikes are people touching his feet. Which makes it extremely hard to trim his nails.
And water. He hates water. We used to have a pool in the back yard and he would always stand on the edge barking at us. And when I take him to the beach he will get close to the waters edge but when a wave comes in he runs away haha. It is fun to watch.
Zeus also enjoys hikes in the forest.
But now that he is older the walks aren't as long as they used to be.
And watching other people eat. On today's episode of other people eating...
Zeus also likes to dress up when we are having a couple of beers 😊
And for his birthday every year
And of course he loves a good pat.
We nearly lost Zeus last Easter when we gave him a pig trotter as a treat. And as Zeus doesn't chew his food properly after he had the pig trotter he started throwing everything up that he tried to eat and drink 😟 We rushed him to the emergency vet and he was unresponsive on the back seat at one point.
Now it was the start of covid in Australia, we had to talk to the doctor via phone which made everything extremely hard and stressful.
Long story short and two trips to the emergency vet it turned out Zeus had a bone lodged in his throat. He had to have surgery straight away at midnight. It was touch and go for a couple of days there but he eventually pulled through and came back to the Zeus we know and love 😊
Zeus has brought so much joy into my life and has always been there through the ups and downs. I can't imagine a life with out him to be honest.
As Zeus is getting old now his back hips are a bit stiff and has trouble getting up stairs and into the car so I have to give him a lift up into the back seat.
If I was granted one wish.
I would wish that pets would live as long as humans, so Zeus could grow old with me 😊
Fingers crossed Zeus will be with us for a couple more years to come.
Thanks for stopping by and Zeus says "WOOF" 🐾🐾
Hello, @vvclothing. You are a very lucky man with Zeus as a friend! He is so beautiful and intelligent. I enjoyed this post a lot and love Zeus too.
Zeus sure is the best! I'll give him a hug for you 😊
Sure! Thanks.
You have a wonderful dog! We got a very sweet Australian Cattle Dog two years ago. My daughter had dreamed of having one, and my wife and I were excited to have a new family member. We named her Laurie, and she quickly fell in love with us and even made friends with our cat. The pet is very active and loves to spend time outdoors. We made a playground for her in the backyard, and my daughter often plays and trains the dog.
For people who want to have this breed, I suggest preparing for frequent and active playtime. Ideally, if you live near a park or have a large backyard, the dog wouldn't be bored.
