SEC-S8W3//What is my favorite children's story and why
I remember vividly when my cousins and I would spread a mat on the floor, and sit down, waiting patiently for my grandmother to come to tell us folklore. If it wasn't her, it would be ua rushing through our supper to come listen to a radio programme Ifo chapi translated to story story or the national station's NTA programme, ***Tales by Moonlight ***. These programmes were not to be missed because each episode was different and full of interesting folktales.
What is my favorite children's story and why?
My favorite children's story is Akwaugo and her Spirit husband.
In the ancient Arochukwu Kingdom, there lived a rich man who had a very beautiful daughter who has reached the age of marriage.
Due to her beauty, men came from far and wide to ask for her hand in marriage but alas, she rejected their proposals because they were either poor or rich and ugly. She was a good girl but vain as all she wanted was a very handsome and rich man.
Then one day, her wishes were answered when a very handsome and rich man came for her hand in marriage. She accepted immediately because he suits her choice. Her parents were unhappy about her decision because they were not at rest with the man but accepted because he is the man she has chosen to marry.
After staying with Akwaugo's parents for a few days, He asked to take Akwaugo to his village to see his parents. Her parents tried once again to persuade her about her choice of husband but it fell on deaf ears.
Akwaugo and her husband started their journey to the spirit world unknown to her. Immediately they crossed over from the Human land to Spirit Land, different spirits came to collect the body parts that her husband had borrowed to pretend to be a handsome and rich man leaving his normal self as an ugly spirit. Akwaugo tried to run away but was stopped by the demon, she became a prisoner in the demon's house.
She started helping out the demon's mother who became fond of her because of how she helped around the house and decided to help her go back to her father's house. She performed some magic and called a huge wind and breeze that transported Akwaugo back to her father's house.
Her parents were very happy to see her and found a good man for her to marry in the end.
What have these stories taught me?
- Listen to your parents, their counsel is priceless and valuable.
- Your attitude determines whatever will happen to you in the future.
- It is how you build your bed that you will lie in it. Be careful what you wish for.
- Good behavior attracts kindness.
- Not all that glitters is gold.
How many children's stories do I remember reading
- Eze goes to school. It talks about a young boy who didn't allow challenges to stop him from pursuing his dreams of going to school.
- How tortoise's back became rough
- Slow and steady win the race.
- Tortoise and the magic drum. Talks about how the tortoise got a drum from a king, a drum that produces meals in surplus when one beats it. Unfortunately for him, anytime he beats the drum, instead of food, he will get beaten up because he did not know that there are certain rules to follow before you hit the drum.
- The sugar girl
- The golden spoon
- The proud princess and the basket of fruits.
- Beauty and the beast
Which children's stories have I taught my younger siblings
I have taught them the story of Slow and steady wins the race, a story of a Tortoise, Hare, and Dog who embarked on a running competition in the animal kingdom. All the animals tried to discourage the tortoise, telling him that he will fail because he crawls and is very slow to win a race. Mr. Hare and Mr. Dog took off when the race started, but the Dog saw a bone along the way and stopped to play with the bone, while the Hare went under a tree to rest, and from resting, he fell into a deep sleep. The hare woke up to finish the race but the tortoise had gradually crawled to the finish line becoming the winner. The story teaches about how one should be steady and focused in life because the end is the end goal.
Have I created a children's story?
No, I have not. I only listen and tell my you ver siblings about the ones that already exist.
In conclusion, One's childhood will not be complete without these bedtime stories that made the most of our growing up fun.
I invite @artist1111, @confydence, and @lifeoflee to take part in this contest.
