Assalamu Alaikum everyone. Good luck to everyone in the second week of the Steemit Engagement Challenge. Today I'm going to participate in a language contest in the Scouts y sus Amigos community. The theme is "My Languages".

Language is the medium to communicate with people and there are thousands of languages in the world that we use to communicate with each other. Because, language expresses the civilization and culture of every people, so language is very important in our life.

How many languages did you speak? Which of them is your native language and which one did you study?

Generally I can speak and understand Bengali, English and Hindi languages well. But since my mother tongue is Bengali, I prefer to speak in Bengali when talking to others. Also I have proficiency in English language. Because I have to communicate in English language in my office and online work. So I use English language as my second language.

My local language is Bengali. Bengali is my mother tongue. As a Bangladeshi, I respect my mother tongue and I feel proud of this language. Because 21st February is our Mother Language Day and Bengali language is declared by UNESCO as International Mother Language Day, as a result of which Bengali language has gained special respect and status in the world today. Besides, my course in college and university was in English language. As a result I completed my studies in English language only.

What method have you used for learning other languages?

There are many ways to learn other languages. Because I think there is no substitute for practice to learn any language. Vocabulary is the most important thing in learning of any language. I used to practice a lot of English during my studies. And learned lots of vocabulary. And if I found any new word I would note it down with the meaning. Because if you write it down along with reading, you can easily master the language. In addition, I have improved my skills by following the guidelines of teachers on English subjects since childhood.

Also Bengali is my native language so there is no need to learn it. But if you want to learn another language other than native language, you can learn it in different ways. I used to watch a lot of subtitled dramas and movies to learn another language. I read different English magazines. And I learned Hindi language from my childhood, watching Hindi serials with my mother.

In addition to the languages you already speak, what other languages would you like to learn?

Among other languages I would like to learn Korean. I watch lots of Korean dramas and movies. From that liking, my interest in the Korean language grew. I have already mastered Korean vowels and consonants. Also to learn Korean language I am learning Korean alphabet by watching various tutorials on YouTube. I wish to go to Korea one day and communicate with them in Korean.

What do you find the most difficult thing about learning another language?

When it comes to learning other languages, I find its pronunciations difficult. Because to master a new language, you must know how to pronounce it correctly. Only then will you learn the regional words of that language well. Besides, to master the regional words, you must acquire knowledge about the grammar of the language. Without knowing the grammar I think it will be difficult to learn the language of any country.

So we should pay attention to the pronunciation of another language to learn it. If your pronunciation is not right then you will not be able to communicate properly through that language. Therefore, to pronounce any language correctly, more and more practice is required.

Why do you think that it is important to master different languages?

I think that mastering the languages of different countries is extremely important in our life. The only means of communication with other countries is language. Because people are now working in different countries, with people of different languages, in pursuit of livelihood. In foreign countries various job circulars are rejected due to ignorance of language. That's why I think learning different languages is very important whether it is building your own career or communicating with foreigners.

Also I think multilinguals can improve their personal and professional lives more than others And their thinking power is also very sharp. So I think it is inevitable to master other languages along with your own language.
