SEC - S5W6. "My Favorite Games "
My town in 10 pics while I am playing one of my favorite games!

“Please, sir, I want some more.” This is probably the most famous quote from Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens.
These days all I hear is, “Please can I have some more time.” This is from my stepson asking for more screen time so that he can play his Xbox games.
Games… games… games…
For decades scientists have been trying to figure out what the impact of playing games is on humans. Maybe they should start by looking at why we are playing games. Is it because of the need to do something, to inspire creativity, to compete, or plainly because of boredom?
I cannot help but wonder what drives each one of us to throw balls, collect coins, build houses, and snipe aliens until the early hours of the morning.
Myself, I play games for two reasons.
Board games – for those family times
Online games – To pass the time, for the challenge plus I am too old to run outside playing “Ring a ring of roses”.
Gosh, do kids still play these kinds of games?
My only and favourite games |
---|
I only have two games on my phone and I’ve been playing them for many years, GardenScapes and now you better hold onto your chair or you will fall off… Pokémon.
Which one is my favorite game? I like both of these games. I’ve maxed the levels of Gardenscapes and also Pokémon with the result that I can swap between the two if I get bored or if I have to perform daily tasks.
I’ve always said that I am lucky as every day I get a new beginning in the games I play.
In a previous challenge engagement, I told you all about GardenScapes therefore today I am going to tell you about Pokémon.
My kids grow up collecting Pokémon cards. A Pokémon is a character with many secrets. These characters came alive in the TV series and then also later in a free-to-play online game, Pokémon Go and lately, they’ve invited us into the movie houses.
Some of these creatures live among us at Pokestop and Pokegyms and some of them live in the wild. What is nice is that you can catch these creatures by throwing a ball at them. Once caught you can take them “home” with you and store them in your Pokedex.
The aim of the game is to not only collect these Pokémons but to also have a good balance of them.
There are more than 800 Pokémons and they can be classified into 18 groups. One of the most famous Pokémon is Pikachu which is classified as an electric type Pokémon.
How do you play Pokémon on your phone |
---|
Pokémon Go was released by Nintendo in the same year as Steemit, 2016. The app uses your smartphone's GPS and augmented reality to engage you in the game. It is still growing strong and year after year it is rated among the top-earning games.
There are 6 easy steps to get you going;
- Download the application
- Create a Pokémon Trainer Club account
- Once logged in there will be tutorials on how to get started and how to play. Professor Willow will also give you advice as you play along
- Look for those Pokémons at various places, Pokestops, Pokegyms, or in the wild
- Start catching Pokémons either by throwing balls, battling other Pokémons or for completing tasks
- Make friends and start enjoying the game!
What makes Pokémon interesting is that there are a variety of things to do.
You can power up and evolve your Pokémon turning them into better Pokémons by feeding them candy. Just like with STEEM and STEEM POWER you can increase the Combat Power (CP) of your Pokémon.
You can also play with other trainers, battle these trainers, complete missions or research tasks, earn medals, send your Pokémon friend's gifts, and recently released you can build an album of places you have visited to find Pokémons.
This then answers the question of how many people can play the game. You alone and also you and plenty of other trainers from all corners of the world. Some of the Pokémons are too strong for you to battle on their own therefore you need friends to join you in what is called a “raid”. Up to 10 players are allowed to participate in a raid. The beauty is that someone in Japan can invite me who is in South Africa to help battle a Pokémon near him.
With the release of the game, trainers were encouraged to play Pokémon outdoors. With COVID-19 this has changed and you can now play from your couch.
PokeStops and gyms are real-world landmarks or locations displayed on a map in the area where you are located.
This is where I invite you to come on a tour of “My town in 10 pics through the world of Pokémon Go.”
I bet you that you cannot do this with your favorite game!
All that remains is for me to tell you about my achievement.
At the end of 2021, there were 71 million active trainers on Pokémon Go.
As a trainer, you get various levels. By playing the game you build your XP, get stronger, and your level increases. The maximum level in Pokémon is level 50. To reach this level you need 176 million XP.
The Pokemon Go 41-50 level requirements are a tough climb. It's probably the hardest part of the entire game, as the experience points needed to get anywhere close to 50 are huge. So anyone who is level 50 has played enough to earn level 40 almost 9 times over.
12 October 2021 I reached level 50.
I said earlier that I play online games, to pass the time, for the challenge and that I am too old to run around.
With Pokémon Go, I can add more reasons. I learn a lot about historical places, and places of interest and I get to explore and know my town while I am making new friends.
“We do have a lot in common. The same earth, the same air, the same sky. Maybe if we started looking at what’s the same, instead of looking at what’s different, well, who knows?”
The words from Meowth, one of my favorite Pokémon.

Saludos, excelente entrada!!
Ah ha! Books!
I love reading. My daughter once wrote in her school book that I love reading so much that I even read the labels of the shampoo bottles 😊
These days I find myself looking for challenging things to do hence then also why I maxed the levels of the two games.
What I like about Pokémon is that at my level I can request Nintendo for adding pokestops.
I try and make them so that other trainers can enjoy reading about the history of the area.
For instance adding a pokestop at the highest building in the world
That gave me great pleasure.
Thanks for the visit! 🌼

Sometimes it keep us TOO busy. (•
Since I've reached the top level I don't play as much.
Thank you for the visit, the engagement and the kind words! It is appreciated!
¡Saludos amiga!🤗
Me encamtó Pókemon🤩🤩.
Felicidades amiga... Excelente publicación🎅🏻🎄
Pikachu! Pokémon is not Pokémon without Pkachu!😊
The game has changed so much since Covd and is so much easier to play.
You can still have plenty more pets as there are 800 more names you can give them😂
Thanks for the visit!
Because I see them as time wasters, I'm not interested in playing these kinds of online games. But you do a good job of explaining your strategy to the contest. Happy entering this competition!
Haha! Now that is what I call “a straight answer”
Best you don’t get hooked my friend. 😊
Thanks for the visit!
Thank you for the visit, the kind words and the engagement.
Time is changing!
I cannot help to wonder what the kids will be playing 10 years from now.
Saludos!
I also said no, I don't want to play it but then my grandchildren asked me to join so that I can help them. Well in the end, they've moved onto other games and I am still stuck with Pokémon Go.
Thanks for the verification!
Kindly take note that I am in Club100 as set out in my post.
Wow exciting game, it seems that I have to try both of your favorite games
The kids love Pokémon! Not only for the creatures but also for walking and driving looking for them.
That is how I started, with my grandchildren convincing me to play along so that I can help them.
I would take them for a drive catching Pokémons and eating ice-cream at the end.
Now... they are far and drives no longer happens.
Granny is the one now left with Pokémon.
Because of my level I can suggest for Pokestops to be added and that is what I love. If I find an interesting place I will submit it to Nintendo to be added in the hope that other players will enjoy not only the place but also to read more about it.
Sounds like Steemit, doesn't it?
I thought it was cricket! 😁😁 This looks like one hell of an interesting game. Anyway, I don't play mobile/ computer games much!
Haha! Cricket is my sport game.
I use to play a lot, especially with COVID but these days with Steemit I don't get much time which is a good thing I suppose. (•
It seems fun. But I've never played Pokemon games. This game used to be very viral in my area. Good explanation. Good luck for the contest dear. 🥳🥳🥳
Ah! You found my post!
