Greetings steemians! welcome to my post, it's a privilege to participate in this contest on the topic "saving humanity"

If we had the power to eradicate any one of those diseases (just one) which one would you prefer to see go away? Describe your opinion.

If I have the power I will eradicate Sickle cell anemia, In the 80s our grandparents, parents marry without conducting test to know if their blood group and genotype matches each other and if they are fit to become couple and as a result of them not knowing what sickle cell anemia is all about they ended up giving birth to As children

Sickle cell anemia disease (SCD) is a set of hereditary red blood cells malfunction that alter the hemoglobin, the protein that moves oxygen entering the body. The red blood cell as a shape that's in a disc move and it's moves through (flexible).

Sickle cell as cause a lot to young promising children which didn't plan to live a life of full of constant sickness, taking of blood tonic(drugs).

In Africa we have about 100,000 people who has sickle cell anemia I wish I can eradicate it because it has No cure, the one thing that can be done currently is bone marrow transplant.

So for who to reduce the number of SCD is to please know our genotype, AS & AS can't marry they will Born SS AA & As can marry.

Have you known people who have suffered from that disease?

Yes I know a lot of people with SCD and the closest person I know is my neighbor child, she's a lady, I do feel for her because on a regular basis her mum spend money for her medication and she's always taking blood medicine, sometimes when she's in crisis when normally don't sleep her mum will come wake us up to come assist her.

Do you think the world would be a much better place if that disease did not exist?

Yes the world will be better because I know a man who married ignorantly without checking genotype and ending up giving birth to As all the five children Has sickle cell and three of the children died living that family frustrated.
Thousand of people die daily because of SCD especially those that don't have fund for medication regularly.

In conclusion

Please we shouldn't overlook checking our genotype, blood group HIV/Aids status etc before getting married, don't be blinded by love, do the necessary checking before saying I do.

I will like to invite @jasminemary @seancryil and @marito74 to participate in this contest.

Hi, good morning.

You're actually right, sickle cell which comes as the unawareness of parents who didn't understand the importance of blood group probably genotype and got married without checking, if unfortunately they give birth to AS children, life becomes hell to the innocent children. About your neighbor, I feel sad for her and thankfully her mom is there to assist her. I so much believed the world would be good if diseases are eradicated. Best of luck.

Exactly thats why enough awareness need to be in place to avoid giving birth to more sickle cell patients, thanks for your valid comment Best of luck to you too🎉

My pleasure..😊

This disease, like all diseases, is terrible and that family, poor those parents, losing their children is a cruel experience. Prevention is important, as you mention, although it may seem ugly, one has to talk to your partner and know the important aspects that include the diseases in the family, so one can prepare oneself as well. May God give strength to all those who live with these diseases and their families.

Amen 🙏🏽 thanks for stopping by and adding a quality review.

Sickle cell anemia is a very dangerous sickness and the best way to prevent our future children from having it is by getting married to someone whose genotype matches ours. Good luck to you.
