What is forgetfulness?

Forgetfulness is an unintentional act of the brain to lose memory of something which may be an event, a date, an activity, a number, etc.
Everybody on Earth has forgotten things in their lives several times over. It either happens in the examination hall when your writing gets you read the previous night then out of nowhere "poof!", you forget a very important definition. It could also be when you're in the market and you didn't carry a list, then you forget the prices of the food items you were meant to buy. You could have an appointment with a prestigious client but forget about it on the day of the meeting. In every way, forgetfulness is almost always a regretful accident. It is always unintended.
What causes forgetfulness?
The human brain contains three parts; the forebrain, the midbrain and the hindbrain. A part of the forebrain called the cerebrum also referred to as the seat of intelligence is the body's house of memory. Due to some major or minor failure of passage of neurological messaging, the cerebrum loses hold of your information, causing you to forget in turn.
However, factors cause the aforementioned description. Few of these factors are;
⬛ Sedentary lifestyle
Refusal to engage in revitalizing physical activities like exercise have undesirable effects on the brain. The energy you put is what your brain needs to boost memory.
⬛ Poor sleep
Sleep itself is a natural medicine. It heals innumerable number of ills. One of which is difficulty in memory retrieval. At least eight hours of sleep every night is compulsory for the brain's maximized function.

⬛Stress
Have you been working a lot recently and find it hard to recall small dates? Rest Dear. You are putting your brain through so much work and you had better give it some break time else it may breakdown.

⬛ Substance intake
Taking a sedative or abusing a drug or hard substance can result in a memory loss.
⬛ Aging
Old people do not have the ability of easily retentive memory. The cerebrums have been working for decades and it's cells are wearing off and dying off. In this case, their brains no longer performing optimally.

How do I promote retentivity?
Well, I have some general tips to share on how to remember things more quickly.
- In an exams hall, use mnemonics. Abbreviate your answers and cram the abbreviations instead of the meanings. It's lighter load for you.
- Exercise regularly and get enough sleep
- Eat more Vitamin B12 rich foods like milk, fish, egg, meat, etc..
