Introduction

Hello friends of Steemit, in this opportunity, I bring you the topic of my favorite game. Reviewing the agenda of Steemit Engagement Challenge, I can not overlook my favorite game and sport, which has undoubtedly marked much of my personality.
In order to develop this topic I will justify why it is my favorite game, and then follow the rules of the contest, and for that I will answer the questions that the designers of this contest have proposed.

My favorite game.

My favorite game is chess, I play it since my childhood in the 60's, when I began to take my first steps in the Chess Club La Torre, which operated in the Paseo Orinoco, in front of the America cinema in Ciudad Boliva, my hometown. When I was in the secondary level ETI of Caracas Industrial Technical School "Luis Caballero Mejias", located next to the UCV Central University of Venezuela. This ETI today does not exist or was moved. It was located in what is now the Faculty of Sciences of the UCV. The chess teacher in my high school, named Cleren Chirinos ? who had reached the title of International Grandmaster. At the same time, he was also a chess Professor, together with another chess Professor named Palacios at UCV. It is worth mentioning that both were my professors, when I was a student at the UCV; which I saw as a sports subject.By that time, came the only chess champion to Venezuela, which gave a simultaneous chess at the UCV, and I was there participating, only Grandmaster Palacios and South American champion, could make him a draw, who as I said, was also my chess professor at the UCV..

Importance of chess.

Chess is called the science game. The reason is because it develops in the individual a capacity to create structures of development in the game with short and long range strategies. The first is usually called tactics and the second is called goal. The tactic is the decision or set of actions of immediate moves and the set of these make up the long-range decisions, the pursuit of which make up the goals that lead to consolidate structures of probable positions in which the game can be developed and which constitutes the long-range strategy plan.
As is known, the skull houses a brain, made up of two parts called the right hemisphere and the left hemisphere. In women, it has been scientifically proven that women have connection with both hemispheres, but not so in men. This advantage in women is considered the origin of her sixth sense. This ability can be developed by the man to become a true chess player. This involves mastering what is called parallel thinking. This means that a person can be aware of and perform two or more events or actions at the same time, without losing concentration. That is why in Russia and other countries, they have made chess a subject in all educational levels.
As far as I am concerned, it has had a great influence on the development of my personality, since I have acquired a remarkable ability to handle and understand logic, which from my point of view applies practically to everything, as in daily life or in the development of any activity. This began when I had the subject of logic in the area of mathematics, when I was a student in my engineering career at UCV.

Instructions of the game.

The game uses a board of 8x8 squares or squares, which have alternately black and white squares, the chess pieces are arranged in the first two rows of each participant, so in this game there are two participants. Each player has a side of white pieces and the opposite side has black pieces.
In the first row, two pieces called rooks are placed in each corner. The perfect placement of the pieces must take into account that the square to the right of the corner must be white, this is very important, since it would not be playing chess as such. Then next to each rook in each corner, the knights are placed and then next to them, the pieces called bishops; as you can see, there are two pairs of rooks, two knights and two bishops. In the center of the first row, there are only two squares left, for the queen and the king respectively. In the latter case there is only one king piece and only one queen piece, also called queen. To know in which square each piece is placed, the rule is that the queen goes in its color. For example, if as a player I have the white pieces, my queen must be placed in the white square, which means that the king goes next to the queen, completely filling the first row. Then in the second row go the pawns, which are a total of eight (8). So the game is already set up. White always goes out and then Black plays, one move at a time and so on and so forth.
The pawns always go forward one square, it is only allowed to advance two steps, when it is in the initial position which can be one or two steps, thereafter only one step. If there is an own or opponent's piece in front of the pawn, it cannot advance but it can do so when it takes an opponent's piece diagonally; this action is done by substituting or placing its piece on the square occupied by the opponent. If the pawn manages to reach the last row, the player can demand any piece of the first row except the king, there can only be one king. The pieces to demand can be rook, knight, bishop and queen.
The towers can be seen in the form of a cross, i.e. forward or backward, right or left if they can make that move. And it can only be stopped by a piece of its own color.
The knight is the only piece that can jump over another piece, own or opposite, as long as there is no piece of its own side. The way in which the action is performed is in an L-shape, leaving a square in between, it can be said in an adjacent way.
The bishop can only move diagonally and always diagonally to the color of the square it initially occupied; therefore, when we speak of a pair of bishops of one side, it is a bishop that moves along the diagonal of its white color and a black one, always referring to the squares.
Then we have the queen, which can move from where it is to all adjacent sides (all its diagonals, front to back, right or left), and as long as it does not have a piece of its own around it that prevents it, again we must remember that the way a piece disappears from the board is by substitution or by occupying the place of the opponent. This is like a kind of battle between two sides. It can be said that the queen is the second most valuable piece in the game, which is equivalent to having three pieces other than the queen.
The king is the most important piece in chess because if it is trapped or captured the game ends immediately, known as checkmate. When the king is attacked with the threat of disappearing and the king can avoid it, it is called check simple. At this point there is a move action that is called short castling when there is no space between the rook and the king on its right side, as long as neither the king nor the rook has moved during the game and there is no square that is dominated by an opposing piece; in the same way it is called long castling on the queen's side, always two spaces moved by the king and the rook on its side. In the case of the short castling the king is located on the left side, while in the long castling it is located on the right side of the king.

Other questions.

At this point in my life, I have no idea of my particular recors I have had in this game. In the photos, you can see just three trophies at the top of the library and one small one at the bottom; all won in competitions throughout my professional career at the universities where I worked. Actually there were countless trophies, many I donated to the library of what was my workplace, as I am now "retired" from the institution. I have also donated trophies to the offices of my co-workers. If I have any record that I remember, it is that of an online game called Play Chess Online for Free. At the expert level, of the dozens of games I have played here, I have only two wins and about 6 draws. I am going to leave the link below, I recommend it and I assure you not to get frustrated, I think it uses an AI (Artificial Intelligence) so I can assure you that there is no probability of winning. My accounts above with this online program, was when this program was new and for some time now I can not win one, not even cheating with the option to return the play.
Finally and finishing all the questions, when I participated in tournaments; these were formed as teams, there are always two types of awards, the first one was the player who individually won the most games and was usually the champion and the other award was the team which consisted of the highest number of games won by team.
