As I stand there under the windmill, I took a good long look at the construction of how the windmill works. This is my small sketch of the main pole and the long poles. There are no fancy hardware connectors, the main pole is short and strong, and holes are drilled through it so that the long pole can stick through. The rest are just rope ties. Nowadays, they are not functioning, so the sails are down.
