One of the recommendations is to keep them in pots or directly in the ground, which is the most recommended, but with a good drainage system for excess water, otherwise the plant may die, as it rots. The most recommended irrigation is the drip system, this plant takes advantage of every drop of water so keeping the soil humid will be more than enough. As far as sunlight is concerned, they require sunlight, they feed on their vitamins, however, exposing them too much especially in times of heat can generate unfavorable changes in the plant or even kill it if it is too much.
