My uncle is a farmer. The amount of his land is 2 acres. He is a child of a middle class family. He worked hard in the fields and reaped the harvest. He has 6 members in his family. He cultivates vegetables and other fruits and paddy on his land. Today, with the possibility of making a profit, he will take the potatoes grown on other people's land from the field to his house and then market them.

The way my uncle used to cultivate potatoes is as follows :

Potato production method :
Farmers of our country use different strategies for potato production. These are not scientific at all. In the real sense, if potato is cultivated in a scientific way, on the one hand the farmer will benefit and on the other hand the yield will also increase.

Fertilizer application method :
Dung, half urea, TSP, MOP, gypsum and zinc sulphate should be mixed with the soil before planting. The remaining half of urea should be given after 30-35 days when the soil is ready for digging.

In our country, potatoes are cultivated during the winter in dense fog. At this time, care should be taken so that the potato plant is not damaged in any way due to the extra cold.

The most suitable soil for potato cultivation is sandy loam soil.After 30-35 days of planting, soil should be applied at the base of the plant. And weeds must be suppressed.

Remedy of the disease :
Various diseases are seen in the field after the potato crop is produced. These include potato plague, early blight of potato, leaf rot, stem and potato rot disease, drooping and brown rot disease, potato tooth disease, potato mosaic disease, potato dry rot disease, potato soft rot disease. . That is why we must always be careful.

Harvesting :
As the potato plant ages, the stem of the potato plant falls off and the lower leaves turn yellow. In order to preserve potatoes, the crop must be collected after maturity. High yielding varieties take 60-100 days to mature. It takes more time to go native. The yield per hectare of high yielding varieties in Bangladesh is 13-14 tons and that of native varieties is 7-8 tons. If cultivated in a scientific way, it is possible to get more than 20 tons yield in high yielding varieties
