Typical Butter Avocado Plant From Gayo, Takengon

In this post I want to share a post about a plant that becomes a commodity that can improve the economy for the people in Gayo, Takengon.

On my vacation trip to the city of Takengon, I visited one of the coffee plantations in Takengon, Central Aceh. Central Aceh or Takengon City is not only famous for its natural beauty which is very charming with various tourist attractions that are the prima donna of recreation for all residents in Aceh in particular. But the city of Takengon is also famous for being one of the areas that generates the economy from the plantation sector.

The beauty of nature and the charm of the mountain which is quite beautiful always has an attraction for tourist enthusiasts. Not only reinforces the beauty, but local wisdom and the plantation sector also has a charm for tourists. In the plantation sector, the most popular commodities in Gayo are Robusta and Arabica coffee plants.

Coffee has indeed become a popular and mainstay commodity in the plantation sector for the Gayo community. Who does not know the enjoyment of Gayo coffee with a taste that is quite delicious and a distinctive brew. In addition to coffee plants, farmers also plant avocado trees on the sidelines of the coffee plants.

Although it is not a prima donna commodity, avocado plants are also being favored by the Gayo community. Avocados have become a supporting commodity which has also begun to demand demand in the market. Moreover, there are a number of cafe businesses that have begun to be developed in a number of areas in Aceh by brewing various juice drinks.

Avocados are one of the commodities that are starting to be in demand in the market. Even avocados are also one of the typical souvenirs for tourists visiting Takengon. Besides Gayo coffee, avocado is also a commodity that is quite attractive to tourists because it has a distinctive taste.

In a number of coffee plants are also interspersed with a few avocado trees. Although it has not become a major commodity, avocado trees are always found in a number of coffee plantations. Avocado now also has a selling value with a market asking price of up to IDR 10 K / Kilogram.

Avocado also has economic value for farmers in the Gayo region which can support the agricultural sector and economic growth for Gayo farmers. Gayo is a fertile land that can be grown by various types of vegetables and fruits. Even the cultivation of avocado plants has also begun to be encouraged by farmers because it has a selling value in the market.

The type of avocado commodity that is famous in Gayo is avocado butter which has a sweet taste, delicious taste, distinctive and fat. Avocado flesh has a thick texture, without fiber and does not have a lot of water content. Gayo avocado began to be marketed to a number of areas in Aceh and even allowed for export activities outside the region.

Planting an avocado tree is basically not as complicated as caring for a coffee plant. Care that needs to be considered and the most important priority is at the time of planting seeds. Avocado plants can bear fruit at an average age of over 5-6 years.

Avocados are rich in protein. The treatment process that needs to be prioritized is when the plant is 0-2 years old. After entering the age of 2 years, avocado plants can grow by themselves and do not require complicated care.

Thick and fibrous meat has a distinctive taste. Even without a mixture of milk and sugar flavorings, this Gayo avocado, like the Butter Avocado, is still delicious with a sweet taste. Avocado ripeness can be characterized by its soft skin and flesh.

Meanwhile, Gayo avocados such as Avocado Butter and Avocado Super are the most popular avocado commodities planted. The Gayo Avocado Commodity is different from a number of other commodities in Indonesia. This plant, which has a characteristic hanging fruit and a shiny green skin, has supported the plantation sector for the Gayo people.
