Long beans (Yardlong beans) - Vegetables

Hello friends of Steemit Garden, I hope you are always in good health and blessed.

This afternoon I went to the garden behind the house to check the long bean plants. A few days ago, my mother planted long bean seeds in this garden. So, today I went to see the growth.

This long bean seed is about 4 days old, so now it has grown. Long beans are one type of plant that produces small and long fruit. This long bean plant is included in the type of vegetables that are very easy to cultivate.

If it has grown tall, this vegetable plant will propagate and produce long fruit. This fruit is in great demand for processing into food. Long beans are processed and cooked to become a variety of delicious foods.

In the local language, this plant is called "bak reuteuk". Cultivating long beans is very easy. We don't need a big garden. Like the land that I own, I plant long beans only on land with an area of 50x200 cm.

The garden with such a large size is enough to plant up to 20 long bean seedlings. I grow these long beans for my own consumption, so they are not for sale. I grow long beans using the organic method, that is, without using pesticides and chemical fertilizers.

We can buy long bean seeds in agricultural and livestock markets. These seeds are produced from dried fruit. The seeds, which are granular and oval in shape, are then planted into the soil.

Planting long bean seeds by inserting the seeds into the soil that has been given a hole. Then the seeds are covered again with soil. Each hole can be planted with 2 seeds of long beans.

Planting long beans should be done in a location with loose soil. To make the soil loose, you can do this by hoeing the soil up to 30 cm. Then the soil is loosened and made a little higher.

In my area, the quality of the soil is quite fertile, so it is very easy to grow plants. We also need to remove grass from the area of land that will be planted with long beans. This is to make the seeds can grow quickly and exposed to the intensity of the sun.

I made a planting area in a location that was fed by water from a well. So, it will be very easy to support irrigation for plants. So, I don't have to bother to do watering every day.

Because the ground area will always be wet exposed to the flow of water from the well. Planting long bean seeds requires a supply of water to support growth. These seeds are about 10 cm high and seem to be thriving.

To take care of these seeds so as not to be eaten by animals, I have made a fence in this garden. Since sowing, this plant has never been given fertilizer. However, it looks to be growing well and has a sturdy and large stem.

We have soil with a PH intensity level that is fertile for growing vegetables. Now I just need to pull the grass that grows around it, so that the long beans can grow well. Pulling the grass will also avoid plant diseases and pests.

As you can see, in one hole I planted 2 seedlings. On average the two seeds can grow and only a few holes grow one seed. Seeds that have a height of 10 cm must be cared for properly, especially to prevent them from pests.

If it has entered the planting age of about 10 days, we can provide organic fertilizer. Fertilizer is sprinkled around the seeds evenly. Organic fertilizers will produce healthy plants and are good for consumption, so avoid using chemical fertilizers.

Thus posting my gardening activities this time. Hopefully this post can be useful and provide education. Thank you for reading.

@ponpase How wonderful to have your own grains harvested, I no longer have space, I am one of those people who think that chemicals are bad for plants, the more natural (organic) the better, make our own natural fertilizer, it is for our own consumption and our health comes first. Greetings and Blessings.
