In this post I want to share education about growing legumes. Some time ago I went to a peanut orchard located in the hills on Jalan Cot Matahe-Mbang, Geureudoeng Pasee District. To get to this garden I have to travel about 30 minutes by motorbike.

Arriving at the garden, a number of guard dogs have greeted us with their barking sounds. These guard dogs are bred to guard the garden and repel plant pests such as pigs. They have been specially tamed, so they are not included in the wild dog class.

I went to the location of the land planted with peanuts, this garden area is about 2 hectares in size. There is a plot of land that has been planted with peanuts and is young and starting to grow flowers. Peanuts in scientific language are called Arachis Hypogaea L.

Peanut plants are included in the type of legumes that are quite easy to cultivate naturally. In the local language, this plant is called Peanut Tanouh. This plant has quite a lot of production in Indonesia because of market needs to be processed into various raw materials for processed food.

Cultivating peanuts on a large area of ​​land can increase the income of the residents' economic needs. Besides being able to open job vacancies for local residents, we can also benefit, because the price of peanuts is no less competitive in the market. Peanuts in this garden are planted on land located far from residential areas and at an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level.

This land area is located in a hilly area, which can support sunlight contact and maintain soil texture moisture. To plant peanuts, we must first clear the land of bushes or grass. After that, the soil is hoeed flat until it becomes loose, because the planting of these beans will be done in the ground, so the soil needs to be loosened to increase the amount of fruit production and thrive.

After loosening the soil, we then make a hole to insert the peanut seeds into the soil. The seeds of this bean plant can be obtained from the seeds that we have removed from the skin. This bean plant is planted in the soil that has been drilled up to 30 centimeters.

The distance between each hole can be about 30 centimeters. Because the leaves of this plant will grow by spreading and flowering. The flowers can secrete pollen to increase the amount of nut production in the soil.

After sowing the bean seeds into the hole, we can sprinkle fertilizer and water the seeds. For fertilizers, we should use natural fertilizers or the recommended compost is to increase fertility levels in the soil. After sowing the seeds, we need to take care to maintain fertility.

Care for these pea plants can be done by regularly watering every morning and evening. In addition, we need to keep the soil texture so that it is always loose, to be able to produce fruit and increase plant growth. We also need to clean the plant area from grass and bushes that grow around the bean plant.

If the leaves are already growing and growing, this bean plant can grow up to 50 centimeters and above with leaves that spread on all sides. During the growing period, it is recommended to apply fertilizer and continue to water. This bean plant can be harvested when it is more than 3 months old.
