Aloe Vera Plant Growth in the Tropics

In this post I want to share a review of aloe vera plants. This paper is based on the analysis and knowledge that I get from Wikipedia sources. In the home yard of my relatives, there are several types of flower plants, including one of which is the aloe vera plant.

This aloe vera plant grows around the side of the roadside planted in a plastic pot. In our area, aloe vera plants can grow easily wildly, even without special care. As I know, aloe vera plants can grow easily in the tropics, although this plant actually originates from dry areas such as Africa and Arabian peninsula.

Aloe vera plant grows to various parts of the world, including in the tropics. However, aloe vera plants can survive in dry areas. At hot weather temperatures, aloe vera plants will close stomata petals to maintain the availability of water in their leaves and will be reopened at night to receive dew as a source of water.

According to Wikipedia, the aloe vera plant is included in the genus Aloe which is a plant that is not trunked. Aloe vera plant has thick leaves and meat. At certain types, aloe vera leaves can reach 50-70 centimeters.

The leaves of this plant can be marked easily because it has a shape that looks tapered to the top. The whole leaves grow spreading together in the buds and looks like there are no stems. In one plant can grow to dozens of leaves that are circular all sides.

The leaves of the aloe vera plant are generally green or some greenish green and there are some white spots on the leaves. On the leaf side there are lumps that resemble thorns, but these thorns are not dangerous because this is the leaf that has a soft flesh. Nearly 99% of the content in the flesh of aloe vera leaves is water.

However, if the aloe vera leaves are in split, there is a thick mucus. Aloe vera meat can usually be used to become processed food, drinks, medicines and cosmetics. I once tried to use the mucus on the leaves of the aloe vera plant in the hair, its properties to make hair healthier and more shiny.

If in cultivation, aloe vera plants are a type of plant that is quite easy to breed, including because it has a high selling value due to market demand to be processed into medicines and cosmetics. Aloe vera is also a plant that is difficult to be attacked by pests. Aloe vera cultivation can be planted on the ground or using pot media.

Treatment of aloe vera is usually done every 3 months by providing NPK fertilizer or urea fertilizer. Fertilization is done to produce a dense quality of leaves and contains meat. Aloe vera plant cannot grow long, it is classified into chronic plants.

Another treatment that needs to be done is to clean wild grass that grows around the aloe vera plant, soil fertility is also the most important thing. This aims not to prevent the growth of aloe vera, because weeds can interfere with growth. Because this is a plant that lives in dry areas, so there is no need to often water water, including during the dry season.

Meanwhile, the harvest period of the aloe vera plant is about 12 months to get the quality of more full and dense leaves. Harvesting can be done by cutting each on the leaf. Marketing of aloe vera plants can be done through agents or cooperate with several aloe vera processing factories.
