Club100 || I will share with you Some Beautiful Photography of Conocarpus Plant || Best Regards By @mumar ||
Conocarpus is actually a large shrub with a short stem. It is also known as "Buttonwood" and is primarily a tree native to the northern Caribbean Coast. Conocarpus has an exceptional ability to withstand the harsh conditions of urban life, including soil salinity, dust, dehydration, rising temperatures, etc. Widespread use in major cities, with Gulf countries leading the way. This tree was introduced in Pakistan in 2008 under Mustafa Kamal.
- During this time, 4.5 million conocarpus were planted in Shahr Quaid and soon this fast-growing tree was seen in many residential areas and highways of Karachi. It is widely installed by DHA, KDA and other housing authorities including University Road and Shah Rah Faisal. However, due to increasing temperature and other climatic changes in Karachi, this tree has also become a topic of discussion. A large number of experts and citizens insist on blaming Conocorp for the mess, so many are calling these claims exaggerated. So we need to look at some facts in this regard.
- Conocarpus fulfills its water needs through its complex and fine root system, which allows its roots to penetrate the soil quickly even in small areas and absorb groundwater and therefore in these areas. Other plants too. There is a severe shortage of water for the species trees, which results in their wilting after a short period of time. Not only this, the rapidly spreading roots of conocarpus can also damage the underground network of drains and pipes and consequently the foundations of buildings. Also, Conocarpus reproduces in November and April.
- It's also important to keep in mind that conocarpus is not completely harmless. Its wood can be used by growing it in forests instead of residential areas. Also, due to its allelopathic properties, it can be used as an effective medicine against various plant-damaging insects, but its use on crops is not at all appropriate, as it damages them. Considering the benefits of conocarpus in its place but its disadvantages in urban areas, its cultivation cannot be considered appropriate in Karachi. To make the environment of Karachi safe for citizens and birds, we should promote the growth of neem, tamarind, jamon, banyan, ashok, kitchenar, champa, amlatas and moringa trees in the city. . In this context, people should play their role in improving the environment instead of criticizing the government institutions.
