One cannot find a person who does not like guava. Due to its beautiful color, sweet smell, bright taste and sweetness, it is a favorite fruit of all children and adults. Not only is it incomparable in taste but it also has many qualities. Guava contains so much vitamin C called a bank of vitamin C. A very popular fruit of our country. Its scientific name is Psidium guava.

Caste

The fruits developed by Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Gazipur are Kazi Guava, Bari Guava-2, Bari Guava-3, Bari Guava-4. The fruits developed from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAKRBI) are: Bau Guava-1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Ipsapeara is a fruit developed from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University. Apart from these invented varieties, other popular guava varieties are: Kanchannagar, Mukundapuri and Swarupkathi.

Kazi Guava: High-yielding variety, fruit slightly sour and seeds quite hard. Its weight is about 400-500 grams.

Bari Guava-2: High-yielding variety. It can be cultivated everywhere. The variety bears 2 times in monsoon and winter. Its weight is about 350-400 grams.

Bari Guava-3: Fruit flesh smooth, yellow-green at full maturity, with red shell, seeds medium. Its weight is about 180 grams.

Bari Guava-4: Seedless, glossy and very sweet to eat. This variety of guava is less prone to diseases and insects. Its weight is about 284 grams.

Cultivation method

You can grow guava plants in a medium-sized pot at home, where there is direct sunlight. This plant needs well-draining soil, but can grow in a variety of soil types. Garden soil should be mixed with sand and a good compost when growing guava in a tub or container.

Well-drained, sandy loam soil is best for growing Thai guava. To grow Thai guava, 2 parts of soil, 1 part of rotting manure and 40 - 50 grams of T. SP, 40-50 grams of potassium fertilizer should be mixed well, then stored in barrels and soaked in water for 10-12 days. After that, the soil should be plowed and left for 5-6 days. If the ground is rough, seeds or seedlings should be planted.
