Passion Fruit (Passiflora flavicarpa)

A few days ago I visited my friend’s workplace. At that location I saw a passion fruit plant and it was bearing fruit. Unfortunately the fruit is not yet ripe, it can be seen from the green color. When ripe, the color will turn yellow.

The uniqueness of passion fruit is that what we actually consume from it are the seeds, not the fruit meat.

Passion fruit is the fruit of a tropical plant known as Passiflora or passion fruit. This plant has the scientific name Passiflora flavicarpa.
This vine grows in warm climates such as Indonesia, Malaysia, India, and northern Australia. It can be found anywhere in Indonesia. Unfortunately they are not grown ij big farm, but only in yards.

There are two types of passion fruit that are commonly found in Indonesia, namely purple and yellow passion fruit. Purple passion fruit is more often planted because it tastes better with a fragrant aroma. Purple passion fruit is generally found in highland areas with a wet climate.

While yellow passion fruit usually grows more in lowland or warm climates. The taste of yellow passion fruit is also sour when compared to purple passion fruit.
