GREENWEDNESDAY: Pennyworts, a vegetable and a medicine.
As today is Green Wednesday, I am here to tell you also about a green leaf vegetable named Pennyworts.
Pennyworts grow so easily that you can find those even on the both sides of roads in my country. There are two types of them as bushes and wines. Usually wines have bigger leaves.
Because of the beautiful shape and bright green colour of these leaves, some people grow them as a garden plant as well on pots.
These plants have a high nutritious value that they are rich in iron, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, calcium and minerals.
I've heared that these are good for hair, skin, eye sight, heart and kidneys and are a medicine to cancers, diabetes and cholesterol.
In my country, we use Pennyworts mainly to make porridge and sambol. Here is the Pennywort sambol I made today adding coconut, salt, pepper, onion and chillies.
