SEC | S13-W3 - “Colors in food.”

Hello greetings to all steemians friends wherever they are, how are you today? Hopefully everyone is still in good health and can carry out all activities well. On this occasion I am back to participate in a contest held by the Steem Iron Chef Community in the Steemit Engagement Challenge Season 13 Week 3 with the contest theme: "Colors in food".

The life we ​​live every day is full of colors and each color of life has its own meaning. The meaning contained in each color depends on how we understand it. There are so many creative and interesting inspirations and ideas that can emerge when we look at a color. Is it the color of the sky, the scenery or the colors found in our daily food?

Talking about color in every food we eat, of course it has its own meaning and purpose. The various dominant colors that we usually encounter in food are red, yellow, green, blue, brown and white. God Almighty creates various colors on the face of the earth which certainly has a purpose and purpose. Color can beautify the world and its contents, such as beautifying the shape of flowers, beautifying the human physique, improving the condition of fruit and so on.

All these colors contain different philosophies from one color to another. The color red, for example, is often used to represent the taste or presentation of the food, namely spicy taste. Red is a warm color so it can attract people and increase adrenaline. The color red can make the mood of those who see it more enthusiastic and can make people hungry. Meanwhile, the green color on food or drink packaging symbolizes freshness and organicity.

The color blue is more often found in beverage packaging because it can provide a refreshing effect. The brown color in food symbolizes sweet and delicious taste. From a psychological perspective, the color brown gives the impression of loyalty, warmth and sweetness. Meanwhile, white has the meaning of communicating cleanliness and freshness, so we often find it in food. Among the many colors in these foods, red and yellow dominate the food colors in each meal. However, other colors are also found in the food I consume.

The various colors in food really determine a person's appetite. The colors red and yellow are very often found in every food, especially in my area of ​​Aceh. The red color comes from chili spices which are always used in every food. Likewise, the yellow color comes from turmeric which is so important in cooking. Every color in natural food (not artificial colors) can symbolize nutritional content. The green color that is mostly found in vegetables indicates that they contain chlorophyll and several other compounds.

The lycopene compound is very effective in reducing the risk of cervical and prostate cancer. The lycopene content is not damaged or changed due to cooking, it is found in red. The natural orange color in food really helps sharpen vision and improve heart health. The carotenoid compounds in orange can increase the body's immunity and prevent cancer. Anthocyanin compounds in blue and purple can prevent cancer, healthy the heart, and strengthen memory.
